THQ Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine

Gotta wait till Oct for co-op :(
Yeah. The vs. mode is pretty fun, but I don't co-exist well with vs. multiplayer without a regular group of people to play it with. I play for awhile, say ten matches or so, then get bored.

So, what were some of your favorite moments? I just loved it when the other Space Marine and different chapters arrived to back you up. And the simple moment when I restored the energy to have the turrets running again, totally had me geek out.
The opening and the finale are easily some of the best and strongest moments of gameplay, though when I say opening I mean the introductory scenes and when I say finale I mean the entirety of Chapters 16 and 17. And that said, there's plenty of awesome in the in-between.

Surprisingly, I didn't mind and actually kinda liked the scripted button mashing event for the end boss battle. It took me a retry because I didn't actually notice it telling me to hit A or Y at the bottom of the screen, so I got hit a bunch of times and flopped lifelessly to the ground.

Btw, who's playing this on PC or PS3?
360 here. That was the console I was told several people were getting it on. And then I hear nothing from any of them. Freakin' ****esons. :cmad:

I think I'll probably give this another purchase when the coop patch gets around to coming out. And if we get any single player DLC, oh lordie. But in the meantime, I think I'm swapping for Dead Island while I wait for X-Men: Destiny.

What class do you guys suck with the least? I have to play Assault and get up close an personal.

Yeah, I had my best bet there. At a lower level, there's less of a gap if you're playing Assault/Raptor. You can do more damage to the other two ranged classes, though if you meet another Assault/Raptor you're dead.

At low levels Tactical and Devastator don't work as well, because as much pew-pew as you can do, you're going to get pew-pew'd harder.

I'm on Chapter 7 right now and the only flaw i'm having is indeed the camera can get on the way when you do your combat rolls and whatnot in mass hordes, also i kinda wish the Space Marines had more banter with each other.

Man, I love the Assault Marine. Jumping into the air, letting grenades fall from the skies, crashing into the ground and picking off anything that still moves. I'm currently lvl 14. Can't wait to reach lvl 18. Because then I'll unlock the Thunder Hammer.

Here's how my character currently looks like.

So is this game fun? I've been looking for something to abide my time til Gears comes out and I really enjoyed the demo for this. I thought Dead Island would bring me to Gears but its already getting stale for me.

It's really fun. But I think I should warn you, because the campaign is rather short. I think I finished it in 6-7 hours.

I had some credit at gamestop and with all my other pre orders paid off, I decided to get this. Very fun, i love the combat switching between gun and sword.

Just played the online. Ah man phenomenal chaotic fun

Yeah, very fun.

Haha, jacobed. I just swapped Space Marine for Dead Island. We'll see how this goes. :D

I got it for the 360 but I got it used because it was like 4 dollars cheaper haha little did I know it had an online pass thing. First time I've been screwed by that. I will say I'm very impressed with the online. First off, my internet is awful. Cod is really laggy, Halo is unplayable and I fear Gears will be the same way next week but this game so far has been running without any lag whatsoever. I love how while the other weapons higher up in the leveling process are more powerful and cooler they are never over powered. I'm a level 3 and I have been taking down guys easily with my Bolter and Knife plus even if I do die they have the equally awesome copy the class every single time. I wish this game had come out a little sooner so I'd have time to fully invest the in the multiplayer but now I don't want to buy the pass since Gears comes out next week.

Just finished this game, i loved the boss fights the game offered even tho they we're minimal lol. :p Gameplay was fun, the environment was great and the setting was superb, tho if you went 2H Hammer at the endgame it could really screw you up tactically if you ask me, as the game kinda goes more corner+shooter with certain scenarios. Still the last boss fight was a surprise how it played out and dat ending. :(

^ So far I've had one boss fight - against the Ork Warboss - and it was exactly the same as the boss fight with Bane in Arkham Asylum :( I was very disappointed with it.

Exterminatus Co-op DLC

I'm kind of thinking about giving this a try, since after playing the RTS Dawn of War I became fascinated with the Warhammer 40K universe, and even purchased several novels of 40K. It's too bad that you cannot choose what Chapter you want your SM to belong to, as it seems like you're stuck with Blood Ravens.

In Dawn of War, yes, you are stuck with Blood Ravens. But that's because it's a chapter created for Relic, so they can do whatever they want with them. Let say, for example, they had chosen the Ultramarines, they'd have to stay as close to the lore as possible, so they don't mess with established canon.

Well, FWIW, in Dawn of War's multiplayer you have a very significant freedom in choosing your chapter/clan/Craftworld etc. But yes, the singleplayer campaigns are stuck with the Blood Ravens.

Free CTF multiplayer mode in December...

THQ today announced details of a new downloadable content pack for Warhammer® 40,000®: Space Marine® scheduled to release for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Playstation®3 computer entertainment system, and Windows PC in December.

The premium add-on pack, which has a suggested cost of 800 Microsoft Points / £7.99, will include a new Exterminatus mode called Chaos Unleashed. In this update to the popular co-op mode players will take on the role of Chaos Space Marine as they take the fight to both the Ork horde and Imperial Guard forces. With brand new boss rounds, new co-op arenas and new enemy units like the Imperial Sanctioned Psyker this mode is a must-have for players looking for a new challenge.

As well as the Chaos Unleashed Mode, the Space Marine add-on pack also includes three new multiplayer maps Habs Ablaze, Station Tertius and Aquila Canyon which can be played in all multiplayer game modes. The pack will also include ten new achievements and trophies.

In addition to the premium add-on content all players of Space Marine will receive a new multiplayer Capture the Flag Mode for free. Playable on all the game’s multiplayer maps, this team based mode challenges players to defend their flag while attempting the capture their opponent's.

Jim Huntley, Vice President of Global Brand Management commented, "Space Marine offers a robust multiplayer experience out of the box but the addition of new maps, modes and challenges should keep the community playing for months to come."

Alongside this add-on content THQ will be releasing a number of new player skins for sale on the Xbox LIVE® online entertainment network, Playstation® Network and STEAM. Players will be able to purchase unique Salamanders, Alpha Legion, Legion of the Damned and Blood Angel skin packs for a suggested price of 240 Microsoft Points / £2.39 each.

The Space Marine add-on pack is scheduled to be available to purchase on Xbox 360, Playstation®3 and Windows PC in December.

I bet they are going to add that in Space Marine 2. But it's great to see it keeps getting DLC support.
