Warner Bros to Adapt Live Action Bleach

Yea I could watch TLA with just the score and It would be beautiful lol

Seriously can't understannd why he made it so short....and extra 45 mins or hour could have really saved the film

yeah while i hate the film i really like the score especially this song it worked so well in the finale of the film probably the only scene i liked

Plus the manga is massive and has a cast of about a million characters. That's just not something you can do easily for a 2 hour film. The manga is able to take advantage of the format and delve into all the supporting characters. Everyone's got these huge fleshed out backstories.

The Gotei 13 needs to be cut down because Kubo has a hard enough time finding things for them to do.

I hated this scene in the movie because Aang is not suppose to be able to control his Avatar form yet. M Night missed the point in the show completely.

LOL, 50 year old Keanu as Ichigo.

I have a hard time believing Hollywood versions of Bleach and Death Note will ever see the light of day.

For one thing, Bleach is so high concept, the budget to do a lot of it would be freaking astronomical unless they cut huge portions of it out.

Plus how do you translate the whole Shinigami aspect and all the things that are very culturally Japanese about it? To me the Shinigami characters and their designs are some of the coolest parts. How do you do that for an American audience who aren't into things like samurai and what not?

Is this your first day here? ;) We're talking Hollywood here. Of course they will gut the source material of anything culturally or socially significant and white wash the cast.

Trust me. If this project ever sees the light of day it will be unrecognizable from the cartoon or manga fans actually care about.

Speed Racer was awesome. I watched it after eating an ounce of magic mushrooms and it was one of the most profound, enlightening moments of my life.

This film is impossible to make by an American studio. The content of the series is too asian.

Yeah. Still very surprised that FMA didn't get picked up.

why dont they just do trigun then or berserk since they can cast a white male in the lead of those since you got names like Vash who is a gun slinger in a western theme and Guts who is a European medieval swordsman

Trigun - Vash

Berserk - Guts

Take an NC-17 rating, multiply it by 9,000 and you sort of get where Berserk is.

BERSERK

Rated PG
Staring Ryan Reynolds
And now introducing Wiffer! The talking dog companion that accompanies the hero on his journey!

get your filthy paws hands off of trigun. rather hollywood do 40 bleach and dragonball movies instead of 1 trigun movie.

Great news

Nutty Professor II: The Klumps director in the lead to adapt the classic Manga Bleach

With the Americanized version of Akira on hold, Warner Bros. has set up another celebrated Manga for a live-action adaptation: Tite Kubo's Bleach. Here we go again!

Variety is reporting that Wrath of the Titans scribe Dan Mazeau has been tapped to adapt the Manga with Get Smart producer Peter Segal possibly directing. Because when you think Bleach you also think of Nutty Professor II: The Klumps. Look we're not saying people can't try new things and succeed, but we're somewhat surprised that WB would go this route after the internet outrage at the casting decisions behind Akira. Then again, you could argue that going the exploding action route might be an interesting turn for a complicated plot such as Bleach — except that it's seldom worked in the past for properties with a rich backstory. Until then read Variety's summary and try and think of how the Hollywood can Americanize the name Ichigo, my vote is for "Itchy."

Bleach follows the adventures of Ichigo, a teenager who can see ghosts. When his family is attacked by a Hollow — a malevolent lost soul — Ichigo inadvertently absorbs the power to hunt Hollows. He then dedicates his life to protecting the innocent and helping tortured souls find peace.

Honestly how does that happen?

It paints a ridiculous image in my head of how "hollywood" works

Dear Hollywood, if you're gonna adapt an anime it should be GANTZ.

Seconded, but only if they can make it hard R and preserve all the adult materials from the manga in the adaptation; I don't want a PG-13 action flick out of it.

As for WB and Bleach, I'd say thanks, but no thanks! This sounds like a disaster in the making already.

Well if the thread is the same as the article you posted wouldn't you think its the same topic? Lol

I thought it was directorless .I didn't read the article (who has time to read),just the headline.Oh well now I guess there is 2 sources.io9's cooler anyway.
