Revenge of the Fallen Was Optimus a little TOO brutal in this?

They are still life forms. Difference is you can take off limbs and attach them back on no problem.

Haha, somebody messaged me and said this was Optimus Prime after a night out drinking whiskey with Marcus Fenix.

I think they feel pain and tearing off limbs would be painful.

What were they going to do with a huge ass robot:oldrazz:
I think that is a little more rough and evil than just killing him. That would be like torture. Plus, most of the big Decepticons aren't going to spill the beans and since he was hiding, I doubt he was in touch with Starscream or Fallen.
My answer would be, avoid those tricky, gray areas by resolving the situation in a different way. Have demolisher fight to the bitter end because in earth at least there are no TF jails. That removes the dilemma of "what do we do with our TF prisoner". Just like in TDK, Nolan could have killed TwoFace without Batman pushing him. Its complicated now that he did. What about his one rule and all?

I do think Optimus shooting him was out of character but as someone said, they probably had a kill on site order because Sideswipe killed Sideways even though he was just running. Optimus also it seems only drops in if things get out of control, which it did.

I found Optimus to be too awesome for words in this movie. He got me cheering many times with his awesomeness. Megatron almost never stood a chance in this movie. Total ownage!

Seconded

People who complained that he wasn't mighty enough in the first, ought to be well pleased with Prime in this film.

Yeah well now people are complaining that he was too much. So goes the way of the internet fanboy.

There is always too much of a good thing though isnt there? "Its best when everything is in good measure" as the ancient greek saying goes (it translates to something like that anyway).

Loved seeing Prime kick ass, but why does everyone else have to be weakened? I want an even fight between Megatron and Optimus, not having one of them man-handle the other. In part 1 Megatron was owning all, in Part 2 Optimus is dishing out the pain like no other, let's hope that they are both even in part 3.

If i can give something to Bay, its how he handled TF2007 Megatron (or maybe Spielberg did it, who knows). I was scared the whole movie of him waking up, and when he did, i couldnt believe how scary and unstoppable he was. And let me take a moment here and commemorate Jazz. As second in command he did his duty, he stayed in front to provide cover for the others. Its a pity they made him into a weak dwarf and so his desicion can only be described as suicide. Ironhide could have stood a chance. He probably would have gotten his ass kicked, but he would have seriously hindered Megs and would have probably stayed alive. Jazz should have been more powerful and his death more dramatic and emotional.

So anyway, it seemed like Prime was the only one who could match him. The fight could go either way (and it eventually did), but Bay hid the fight and only showed us the ending where Prime was beaten, giving the impression that Prime was a punching bag.

I like it better when they are evenly matched, because the fight can go either way. If there is nothing at stake, who gives a crap? Besides, arent the decepticons the bots that were born fighters, when the autobots were workers that upgraded and adapted to combat?

I thought Megs was still pretty powerful in this film he held his owned against Prime in the Forrest fight . Of Coruse he got owned royal when Optimus got his Super Mode from Jetfire .

But it was 3 against one and Prime held them off pretty well. If it wouldn't have been for Grindor and Starscream, I'm sure it wouldn't have ended well for Megatron.

some people said 2 years ago that OP was holding back in the city with megatron. after ROTF you know its true. in the forest there was noone. only Sam and he was running away.
OP got in the ''owning mode'' . he is a fantastic warrior and they showed it.
so i also dont think that Megatorn was weaker. at the end he had no chance.

i think Megatron was not full angry in the forest. he maybe didnt give everything. in the first movie he was 100% pissed. he was going nuts on OP.

Well, it's war. But I have to be honest, him executing Demolisher just like that, by shooting him completely defensless in the face, I didn't think that was very Optimus like.

Agreed. I think that was the least Optimus-like act in the whole movie.

I loved OP in this flick, he was the saving grace for the movie. I loved the way he kicked some serious ass and the forrest scene was damn close to perfect. OP taking on Megatron and Megs has to call on other decepticons for help so what does OP do? HE say's I'll take you all on. LOVE IT, and he starts holding his own kicking some serious ass. HE lets his guard down for 1 sec to check on Sam a human, which is EXACTLY what OP would do, and Megatron calls him weak and kills him in a pretty cool way. I loved the stabbing through OP chest from behind like a coward, and then shooting? through OP chest to finish him off. This to me was the only scene that was handled perfectly in the entire film.

I agree with that, completely. In the first movie he had all of those innocent around him, and Prime being who he is would never want to hurt them. But in this there were no civilians around, so he could cut loose and kick arse.

Optimus Prime was ****in' badass. End of story. :woot:

Optimus Prime in all his Badass glory this movie, is my hero.

Prime is a warrior. One of the themes of this movie franchise is "We are a warlike race". So no, Prime's brutality and willingness to kill doesn't surprise me in the least. In fact, given the threat posed by the Decepticons to innocent people, Prime's actions make perfect sense, regardless of whether they are entirely moral. This isn't the cartoon, or even the comics where the good guys shoot at the bad guys, and the bad guys shoot at the good guys, and often, few ever get hit or perish. That's one thing I like about the movies.
