Watch the "Wanted" 1st Theatrical Trailer and discuss

I've never read the comics so I'm not sure how its supposed to be. When I saw the trailer it kindof reminded me of that Clive Owens movie(forgot the name, had monica bellucie).

Shoot 'Em Up. Especially with that one scene of Wesley cross-arm shooting at people.

I liked it. But the part with the train falling down looked bad. Really fake.

Btw, y hallo thar, nu fish.

i still think it looks great... i dont care what you people think lol:hyper:

Hey thats fine. I was talking to the people that have this wait and see attitude like its going to be better or more like Wanted than what is being shown.

I think the problem that most of us Wanted (graphic novel) fans have with the movie is that it looks like its going to be just an ok action movie. THATS THE PROBLEM. Wanted, the graphic novel, wasn't just an average okay action story, it was like an action/comedy with hilariously un-pc jokes and its own unique characters. With the movie, it looks like they've stripped that all away. Now it just seems like a "safe" generally pleasing movie for the masses that will be forgotten in a couple years.

Yeah, I mean, they didn´t even need to make it an adaptation, they could have named it something else, done the exact same movie, and no one would see a connection. The GN isn´t so popular that it justifies "brand name" association.

But you do realize this trailer is basically the Matrix? It's not bad enough they are pretty much going away from the source material but they are basically ripping off the entire premise of another popular movie.

Hmmm... well, except for the end goal: (Freeing enslaved people, versus saving innocent bystanders), there are some strong parallels, I see that, but that said, how is the premise from Wanted any different? It's only the trappings and end goal that have changed. Chick brings hapless white collar guy into the hidden world of -insert hidden war here.- Same for the GN, same for movie, same for the Matrix... it's only the hidden war and the end goal of the wise black man in charge that change.

I'm certainly not saying this is a landmark piece of fiction... I'm just saying it looks like it could be as good as any other action movie, despite the fact that it has more to do with the Matrix than the Graphic Novel.

I'm a slowpoke. I just saw the trailer. Really dissapointed. It doesn't look bad, but it doesn't look great either. I'll probabaly see it just because it is (barely...) based on Millar's book, and I love Millar, Wanted is one of my favorite comics too.

I guess I shouldn't have expected people to accurately represent the comic because of the subject matter but I'm pretty upset because it does look like they strayed far from the comic. They kept the names and stuff but that was about it... But at least I can judge it as its own movie, and I don't have to run a scene-to-scene comparison in my head!

Saw the trailer and...man, are they trying too hard. It's like they put together what they think today's audience would find "cool" and called it a movie.

That together with how far they've deviated from the concept of the comic itself (I haven't read anything but the first issue at my friends house but the damn synopsis alone is clearly not this) pisses me off as a comic book fan. It really bothers me that Hollywood would just completely warp a comic book like this and manage to make it into one of their generic action movies...Wow...Just amazing. The fact that Millar is going so crazy over it just bothers me even more. I mean this...is not even close.

Millar is going crazy over it for one reason...they most likely delievered a dumptruck full of $100 bills to his house.

I do agree that the trailer tries too hard to be 'cool'.

Also, my friend yelled out Matrix 4 in the movie theater, embarrassing me. However, after thinking about it, it's kinda true.

Beyond the 'bullet time' effects, there's: Angelina Jolie (Trinity) who finds a white collar slacker who destined for greatness, and has a mentor who is a wise philosophical African American aka Morgan Freeman (Morpheus).

The Matrix is hardly original, but the writers here need to be less blunt on their influences.
I'm sure the comic wasn't this obvious.

You guys sure know a lot about a movie you haven't even seen.
I wish I had your almost supernatural insight!

Congrats! You get to be the "Don't judge it until you see it"-person for this forum! :whatever:

It will suck because it is called "Wanted", it is supposed to be an adaptation of the comic "Wanted, and it doesn't look anything like the comic "Wanted".

It's like ordering a brand new Corvette Z06 and getting a 1988 Ford Escort instead. You don't have to drive it to know it isn't a Corvette.

That's basically the only reason I can see him supporting this...that, and he'll get more money if it's successful. I can't blame him for wanting it to succeed....but it would have been cool if he'd taken more of a Frank Miller/executive producer type role as opposed to the Alan Moore/wash my hands of it and take the money role.

Shoot 'Em Up. Especially with that one scene of Wesley cross-arm shooting at people.

If I had video editing skills, I'd follow that scene with Willam Defoe from "Boondock Saints" saying, "Good Shooting..." (show scene with the bullet flying around the side of beef), then "S***ty Shooting" (show Wesley In Name Only crossing his arms)

I wish the writer's guild strike would have happened before this script was finished...then we could go another few years or months or days until this crap-fest came out in the theaters.

Don't worry....I won't watch it....and, until I see something that resembles the f-ing graphic novel, I will continue to b****....and righteously so.

You can watch it until you're a skeleton for all I care. It can win twenty academy awards and be praised as the greatest film sicne Citizen Kane....but it'll STILL be an inaccurate adaption of the source material. Do you get that? Fans of a COMIC aren't going to like a movie that's based on it if it is NOTHING LIKE THE COMIC.

Wait and see...ugh. I'm sure you were on the "Wait and See" list with Catwoman In Name Only, too, weren't you?:whatever:

Thank you for stating this. This is probably the most well-articulated explanation of fan dissatisfaction on this forum to date. You made it clear to me why you are dissappointed without sounding like a big whiney baby. Again, thanks for this. Please help the other members learn this technique.:yay:

Bah! Subtlely is futile!:cwink:

I thought the same thing. There's even a shot of a guy in the trailer exploding into a little pieces, ala Agent Smith at the end of the first Matrix.

it's pretty clear that he wasn't interested in making a "comic book" movie.

which is EXACTLY the kind of director you'd want directing a comic book movie... G R O A N

praying for it to flop and hope this teaches all those involved in the executive decision of creating this barf to never EVER poorly adapt again.
Comic book Companies - take control of your properties !

i want to swear but cannot.

it's like i've tripped on the brown acid and won't come down. i don't get it. i'm seriously confused. perhaps i should've taken the blue pill...waitaminute...

Yeah...it's funny how films like Wanted In Name Only and Catwoman In Name Only seem to have attracted the directors and screenwriters who are all so concerned about "making their mark" by changing a property, that they manage to change the property into something that already exists...hence making it crap, and ending their own careers most of the time. However, had they made it like the comic, it would have been a one of a kind film...

...but who wants that? Certainly not Hollywood....:whatever:

Phew! Not worried anymore, thanks!

I promise I WILL watch it until I'm a skeleton, even if I hate it. I will do it to spite you.

Wait and see...ugh. I'm sure you were on the "Wait and See" list with Catwoman In Name Only, too, weren't you?:whatever:

How...how did you know?? It's amazing! :wow:
Hahaha, you're funny :D

.... and your sitting through this mess until you waste away to a skeleton is going to teach Shinlyle [or anyone else disappointed with this laughable excuse for an adaptation] exactly.... how?

I'm not sure how that will punish the rest of us, but if you want to do so - be my guest. They're YOUR eyes after all, not Shinlyle's.... and not mine :hq:
