Watch the "Wanted" 1st Theatrical Trailer and discuss

I loved the novel , but from seeing the trailer  ......

Now I've never read the miniseries (but i've heard enough of it to know how unfaithful the movie seems to be), but even with that apparent benefit the trailer seems like it's lacking something. Maybe it will be a somewhat decent and enjoyable movie, but i'm not getting that vibe from it now.

What I find funny is all these people going o nabout "oh you didn't think they'd make a good $100 mill adaptation of a comic thats not a house hold name" b.s.

Heres some other none house hold name comic films that kicked ass

300
Sin City
Hellboy

Sorry I just know for a fact that it's possible to make a good movie.

Well, I didn´t read the miniseries so I watched it without any preconceived ideas of what it should be... Seems like an entertaining and watchable enough action movie, some cool visuals, nothing else. Oh, and Jolie was much hotter when she had more a little more meat in her bones.

I'm officially done with this garbage. There is no way, being a fan of the book WANTED, that I can accept this film. If I had known nothing about the production of this movie and saw this trailer without the title at the end, I would never have even known it was in any way related to WANTED. Not only that...but it really does look like a lame Matrix ripoff.

I refuse to even support it enough to bash it in these forums. Hope you guys enjoy the movie.

WANTED is the BEST comic book that I have ever read in my entire life. PERIOD. That concept was just so incredible it was like Sin City with Super Powers. Supervillains killed all the heroes and secretly run the world. Fantastic concept!

However, this movie seems like a generic shoot'em up. The Fraternity was soooooooo cool in the comics. The Gear, the cars, the costumes, the family feuds, The Psycho Super Villains!

If I have nothing better to do I might go see it, but as a super fan of the original graphic novel I can tell that movie doesn't even come close. Wanted is like A Clockwork Orange on steroids with super powers. I don't think this movie comes close to representing even half of what made the comic special.

and on another note...why did they cast an anorexic Angelina Jolie in the park that was clearly modeled after Halle Berry in the comics? :csad:

Then the entire purpose of the project is gutted. Rhetorical question here... Besides the supervillain angle, what sets what we're seeing here apart from 10,000 generic action flicks? I see nothing memorable here.

It depends. If you're into supervillains, this "birth of a super-criminal" tale is not to be missed. If you thoroughly identify with heroes, you might enjoy it less. "Wanted" is definitely not for everyone - for one thing, the artist does not stint on the depictions of gore. People's heads are blown in half almost every other page.

The premise of the film is already flawed. When Fox and Wesley first meet [which is in a Subway-type sandwich shop] she does NOT rescue him from an attacker. LOL! Hardly. On a whim, she guns down every single person in the place, then whisks him off to meet Seltzer and then almost puts a bullet in Wesley's head herself. There's no kindness there. She does not care about him, he's Seltzer's project. [And in a way... hers.] it's strictly business.

Anyhoo, I'm going to have to agree with Anti-Moderator here and say that this is so extremely awful, I don't think I'll be following it further. You who want to see this, enjoy. Me, I don't want my super-criminals watered down, thanks but no thanks. Ugh.

You're right the entire plot of the story has been gutted. It's supposed to be about super villains being evil with no one to stop them not assassins making the world a better place, like we don't all foresee the ineviatable twist at the end where you discover that the Fraternity isn't saving a thousand they're killing the good guys. Kinda lame when compared to what it was in the comics. There's a word I like to use in situations like these...

UNREMARKABLE. :cmad:

Does anyone know where I could find a cool wallpaper for the REAL wanted and not this movie version?

Well, even though I didn´t read the GN, it sounds a lot cooler than the premise for this movie. Oh, well...

The twist to the movie is that the bag of bones Jolie turns out not be Fox but really Mr. Rictus in disguise :)

Y'know, there's a lot of love for the original GN in here...

...as there should be...

... but no one seems to have commented on how cool and stylish the trailer is. Most people whom I've spoken with have been sold from the moment Morgan Freeman put a curveball on a bullet. And I'll put money against the 'forseeable twist' mentioned above, cuz... just no.

So, yeah, the movie might as well be named something else entirely (It doesn't appear as anyone is 'wanted' in the criminal sense), but as for what it is, on it's own? It's looking better than some other comic book movies, quality-wise.

graphic novel was great. trailer and movie is going to be garbage. end of story. wanted is NOT supposed to necessarily be a shoot em up movie, but supposed to be more story driven(a great story) by the way. You take the superhero/villain factor out of the movie IT RUINS THE CONCEPT of a world without heroes

But you do realize this trailer is basically the Matrix? It's not bad enough they are pretty much going away from the source material but they are basically ripping off the entire premise of another popular movie.

Well, any ****ty movie can have at least one or two good money shots for their trailer, but I'll admit, I liked the scene with the guy going through the skyscraper window.

I think the problem that most of us Wanted (graphic novel) fans have with the movie is that it looks like its going to be just an ok action movie. THATS THE PROBLEM. Wanted, the graphic novel, wasn't just an average okay action story, it was like an action/comedy with hilariously un-pc jokes and its own unique characters. With the movie, it looks like they've stripped that all away. Now it just seems like a "safe" generally pleasing movie for the masses that will be forgotten in a couple years.

why did they drop the suit? It looks awesome.

What's the point of having a kickass costume if they've completely done away with the need to even wear one?

they are assasins. superman doesn't really need on, niehter does spiderman. It just looks cool

No superhero needs costumes, but for some reason, skintight uniforms are a neccessity when fighting. I guess it's the best thing to fighting naked, which would mean nothing getting in your way. I do have to ask though...when it's winter, don't they get cold?

From the looks of the trailer, they're the type of assassin's who like to wear a suit and tie when they off a guy.

Gee, we haven't seen THAT before.

I just want to know, will we see Wesley's father leap from rooftops in nothing but an evening robe, after being interrupted while taping gay porn?

Damn, the hate coming out if this thread is so strong that the flowers in my office actually died

Anyway, I thought this looked great. It looks like a really fun action movie, and I will definitely go see it  :D

Also, even though now I know that the graphic novel is very different, I will still buy it. I really loved Mark Millar's take on The Ultimates, and this sounds like a great book as well.

If anything, I can look at the movie as some kind of companion piece to the novel (or viceversa).

Just because it's so different, it doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to be horrible.
Look at the Bourne books, and the Bourne movies.

Yeah, that's what I thought too. Also, it's just a trailer, let's give the movie a chance shall we. You never know, there might be some pleasant surprises when the movie is finally shown. :cwink: If there's none, no big deal to me. :whatever: Life goes on...:woot:

The whole "lets wait and see" idea is so lame and a terrible way of looking at things. Sorry I honestly dont need to wait "to see the movie and the context" to know when someone gets my favorite stories/characters wrong.

I am sick and tired of fans just sitting there and taking whatever the yget handed and loving it off..like wtf people? Am I the only one who remembers when fans were SUPER PISSED about Keaton being cast and it caused WB to rush the trailer out? I seriously wish the collective fandom would grow their balls back cuz it's really sickening how complacient 99% of the fan base has become.

Well when the movie sucks the same people will probably say come on wait for the directors cut lets wait and see.

Loved the book, but skeptical about the movie, trailer seemed alright, but hmm...

I've never read the comics so I'm not sure how its supposed to be. When I saw the trailer it kindof reminded me of that Clive Owens movie(forgot the name, had monica bellucie).
