I always wanted to do this. I know a Watchmen film was in development in the late 80's from Joel Silver. We knew some of the cast being considered like Arnold for Doctor Manhatten and Jamie Lee Curtis for Laurie.

But what if Watchmen was made in that time? So, the title speaks for itself, who would you have cast in the roles, what writers, and what director would you choose for a 1980's Watchmen film?

The cast members and any known ones and such MUST be from the 80's. What actors did you think back then could of played the characters and why?

This should be fun. I'll post my thoughts when I can think of them. Enjoy.

Robin Williams = Rorschach

Scorsese or Kubrick for director.

I also keep coming back to Willem Dafoe or Sean Penn for Rorschach.

Tom Berenger for Comedian possibly.

NO Arnold for DM.

Reginald Veljohnson for Dr. Malcome Young

I just thought, Tom Selleck for Comedian.

Burt Reynolds as The Comedian

You know the first thing I thought when I read Watchmen was that the Comedian looked like an evil Tom Selleck. Turns out his character design was apparently based on Burt Reynolds.

Perhaps it's overreaching but... Michael Madsen for the Comedian?

burt renolds would be perfect cause hes such a dick head, but a likeable one

Michael Keaton for Rorschach...if Batman never happened.

Thought about more ideas for my 80's "Watchmen" cast.

Burt Reynolds - The Comedian
William Hurt - Ozymandias
Kurt Russell - Nite Owl II
Christopher Walken - Rorschach
Peter Weller - Dr. Manhattan
Linda Hamilton - Silk Spectre II

I like!

Tom Berenger for The Comedian is a great shout  All he'd need to do is a more witty Sgt Barnes and he can pull off the stache!

So is Sean Penn for Rorschach.

Brad Dourif would've made a great Rorschach. Can't believe I forget about him.
