Um, how about Selena Gomez?

Shes popular right? I think shes trying to move out from under the Disney starlet brand so a movie like Akira could work out for everyone. She gets a more edgier and mature persona and the Selena/Beiber fans will flock to see her in the movie. Plus you know theres going to be major press about a Disney actress in a hard PG-13 maybe even R movie.

Ive never seen any of her work so I dont know if she can act but Im betting shed be at least on par with Kristen.

Is that too crazy or am I onto something?

The Runaways was excellent, as was Panic Room and there was a movie she did with Steve Zahn was really good. I have no problem with her. Twilight is crap but what young actress wouldn't jump at the chance to do a franchise like that one? People shouldn't base their opinion of her on Twilight.

I don't think she'll take this role anyway.

My problem is with this project overall. An effects heavy movie with this small a budget shouldn't be trying to sign a Kristen Stewart.

You're thinking of the wrong character. That's Kaori not Kei who Kristen Stewart is apparently being asked to play.
