But, Summer 2015 is already very crowded.

* Fantastic Four reboot
* Avengers 2
* Terminator Reboot
* Independence Day 2
* Pirates 5
* Batman vs Superman
* Jurassic Park 4
* Ant-Man.
* Star Wars 7.

And now they will add this ? :doh:

How is that any more films that any other summer though? I mean this summer surely had over 8 films no?

FF4 is not even coming out in the Summer.

March 6 is it's release date.

Also, isn't ID4 2 getting delayed?

Not to mention there's a chance Independence Day 2 is getting delayed now. And Episode 7 has no set date.

Episode 7 is looking to be a Winter release date now, but I would love for it to have a summer release date.

Of course this is all hypothetical. 'Fantastic Beasts's script barely got started with its script; plus Rowling has to create a proper narrative where as the book was written as a 'textbook'. It all depends on Rowling. They owe a lot to her and she to them so it's a partnership where I can't see WB pressuring Rowling too much.

Plus this doesn't' even have a director yet. My gut instinct says 2016.

Well they haven't announced an actual date yet for a reason. They want to see how fast they can get this out without any deadlines. So I'll wait and see what happens.

2234.

Kirk and Co. go watch it in Star Trek 3.

Isn't 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' a sort of horrible title for a tent-pole? It worked for the encyclopedia but for a movie? Sounds a but odd.

I feel they might change the title later on.

And also, there is obviously some amount of cash grab element here. This will by all means be a multi million dollar promoted like hell big blockbuster enterprise. So obviously it is at some level a cash grab.

I don't think it's a horrible title at all, really... Actually, I like it a lot. Sounds intriguing and right out of the Potter-verse. So, what is this about? I imagine he'll go on adventures discovering new magic species of animals and chronicling his discoveries. Sounds like a fun time.

With her involvement, they won't change the title. Also, the marketing will make it clear that this is tied to HARRY POT-POT!

They can tie it very easily in the promos to Harry Potter... just play a few bars of John Williams theme in the trailer and you know its related to Harry Potter.

Or just have a title card related to Harry Potter.

I don't imagine them playing the John Williams theme. They'll aim to set this apart from the Potter movies. It's not like Star Wars, where they're embracing all of that.

I don't see this being released in 2015. Maybe 2016 or 2017.

My history with Harry Potter has been interesting because I saw all the movie (prior to the 7th one) and while I liked them all, I still didn't get it. So, me being an open minded dude, I read the books..then it clicked...then it all made sense. I fully understood why Harry Potter is a gem of a series.

It's an amazing book series, and I think the films are great companion pieces. I don't think the movies feel like the full experience but yeah, now I'm grateful that I read the books.

Because of that one decision, my entire outlook just changed on Harry Potter and now I'm excited for the new possalbitilies of a spin-off!

Cool that she's going back to other portions of the universe. Though I'm surprised she hasn't chosen to do a prequel featuring the four Hogwarts founders or something.

I'm really looking forward to this. There are so many stories to be told in the Potterverse. I see this being to the movies more or less what the Clone Wars cartoon was to SW. Thus creating its own stories and toys etc.

Very cool news! Im glad that it will focus on other aspects and not just Hogwarts and the same characters...endless possibilities.

Agreed

The way she's been doing it over the years, it's getting similar to the LOTR and SW universes regarding size. Not quite there yet, but you can see it.

True. I was also always hoping for books about the Hogwarts founders. I could have seen a book each for Godric Gryffindor, Salazar Slytherin, Helga Hufflepuff, and Rowena Ravenclaw.

Depending on how quickly Jo can pen the screenplay (which can be a few months to over a year), I think WB will aim for a November 2015 or July 2016 date.

WB is cool with Cuaron. Maybe he can come back to direct this?

I don't know. Cuaron seems to like doing new things.

It would be great if WB could get him back. I think David Yates is more likely, though.

And I'm pretty sure while WB asked JKR if she could write another HP book... I'm pretty sure she wouldn't do it if there wasn't a good story to tell. She doesn't seem to be one who caves in and says "All right, I'll do it if you get off my back!"

And I wouldn't be surprised if she has already outlined the first film, as well as the follow-up, before she approached them about scripting the film.

I love what Yates did for the series, but I'd rather get some new blood in there, or at least get one of the other directos like mike Newell who only directed one, cuaron would be awesome too.

Yates is like Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the apes). incredibly indecisive with ther next project.

Anyone know of any other directors who were attached to the series but wound up getting it? Like I know terry Gilliam was going to do the first one but clashed creatively with the studio. Maybe there are directors they were in contact for the previous movies that would be interested.

Spielberg was attached at one point, wasn't he?
