I'm into this.

Guillermo Del Toro refused the 4th and the last film is i remember correctly

My history with Harry Potter has been interesting because I saw all the movie (prior to the 7th one) and while I liked them all, I still didn't get it. So, me being an open minded dude, I read the books..then it clicked...then it all made sense. I fully understood why Harry Potter is a gem of a series.

It's an amazing book series, and I think the films are great companion pieces. I don't think the movies feel like the full experience but yeah, now I'm grateful that I read the books.

Because of that one decision, my entire outlook just changed on Harry Potter and now I'm excited for the new possalbitilies of a spin-off!
The movies are alright at best, the first one is the best according to me.

The best thing about the films is John Williams score for the first 3 films.

Some are already dismissing the move by saying that it is all "quick cash grab".

But same people approve of Disney making more Star Wars movies and more Pirates of Caribbean movies.

I don't understand that. She's already set for life from the series. People don't realize how much she actually loves writing about the HP universe.

Even the weakest Harry Potter film is on the very least good.

While the first is a classic by now i think the best ones are the 3rd, the 6th and the last two-parter

The first one I liked because it was the first attempt at even trying to find kids that matched the characters, of which I will give Chris Columbus and his crew credit for.

Spielberg was attached at one point, wasn't he?

He was. His version was a CGI animated film, with either Haley Joel Osment or Elijah Wood voicing Harry.

As much as I enjoy Spielberg's output, I am glad that didn't happen. :o

Yeah...........I doubt we would even get 7 films out of that

I think this will be a 2016 title, at the earliest. I don't think it'll be a 2015 title unless JKR completes the screenplay in 3-5 months.

But when she finishes, I expect WB to make this a November 2015 or July 2016 release. That's the usual release pattern they used for the original HP series.

Do these news mean we will get an Harry Potter section in the site?

Well, HP doesn't really fit into the 'comic book' or 'superhero' side of things...

Neither does Star Wars or Star Trek. Though i undesrtand if an Harry Potter section isn't created, it doesn't have the activity of Star Wars, and even the Tolkien legendarium didn0t get a section

It would do well if we had one IMO. Eight movies, and seven books to discuss, and this spin off/prequel.

In terms of popularity i think it's easily up there, but in superherohype forums i don't think it is. Though it's probably close to Star Trek's, whose section sometimes feels empty

Not as empty as Transformers, though. :funny:

Well there goes any potential DC movie universe.

Conclusions are fun to jump to, huh? :o

Just callin' it like I see it.
