The moment they ditched the robes, the wizard look got 1000x better imo. The coats and dusters work for me. Tonks and Moody were like steam punk badasses. My only problem with his outfit is that he doesn't look like a wizard. But then again, that's been my problem with these movies since GOF.

Wizard and muggle fashion is interchangeable outside of the hats and robes. Also, long flowing robes don't work in modern context the same way. It is too obvious, too noticeably different. And while I dig a good set of Sith robes, I will take the Sergio Leone duster any day of the week.Don't get me wrong, they all look great, but as someone who grew up reading the books, I don't like that they've made wizard and muggle fashion interchangeable. Long, flowing robes can look just as impressive as trench coats and the like.
Eddie Redmayne does Blue Steel better than Derek Zoolander

The wizarding world is the opposite of modern. They use parchment, quills, and candles. Also, long flowing robes don't work in modern context the same way.
And by difference, I'd say they make them look goofy.Yeah, exactly. The robes make all the difference.
But the only ones who don't wear robes are the kids, when they are doing things robes would get in the way off. You aren't going to go running in robes, you aren't going to sit down with robes while relaxing. And they don't wear robes in Muggle public. Also the robes are a part of the schoole uniform. Probably another reason why they don't wear them while not in class. The wizarding world is the opposite of modern. They use parchment, quills, and candles.
Eddie Redmayne as the 13th doctor?

I can recall several instances where adult wizards wore muggle clothing when interacting with other wizards. But the only ones who don't wear robes are the kids, when they are doing things robes would get in the way off.
They did it in the books all the time. In the films, there were times where adult wizards were able to perform physical activities while wearing robes. You aren't going to go running in robes, you aren't going to sit down with robes while relaxing.
Robes are a part of wizard culture just as much as goofy costumes are a part of superhero culture. The films have changed that, but it's my position that they shouldn't have. And they don't wear robes in Muggle public. Also the robes are a part of the schoole uniform. t:This looks awesome.
