lookin good my man Scamander

although I must admit that makes him look more Gryffinpuff than Hufflepuff :woot:

My only problem with his outfit is that he doesn't look like a wizard. But then again, that's been my problem with these movies since GOF.

They could make Quidditch Through the Ages next, like a Moneyball type thing. This is shaping up pretty interestingly, can't wait for a plot synopsis. Wonder if Grindelwald shows up.

I'm very much looking forward to this. They should make a Mighty Ducks style Quidditch movie.

I couldn't find a bigger/clearer image, but here you are:

The moment they ditched the robes, the wizard look got 1000x better imo. The coats and dusters work for me. Tonks and Moody were like steam punk badasses.

the wizarding robes work inside their wizarding world. But when wizards and witches are out in the muggle world they do wore muggle clothes.

And those are just that. 30's muggle clothes.

Don't get me wrong, they all look great, but as someone who grew up reading the books, I don't like that they've made wizard and muggle fashion interchangeable. Long, flowing robes can look just as impressive as trench coats and the like.

Eddie Redmayne does Blue Steel better than Derek Zoolander

Wizard and muggle fashion is interchangeable outside of the hats and robes. Also, long flowing robes don't work in modern context the same way. It is too obvious, too noticeably different. And while I dig a good set of Sith robes, I will take the Sergio Leone duster any day of the week.

Yeah, exactly. The robes make all the difference.

The wizarding world is the opposite of modern. They use parchment, quills, and candles.

And by difference, I'd say they make them look goofy.

But the only ones who don't wear robes are the kids, when they are doing things robes would get in the way off. You aren't going to go running in robes, you aren't going to sit down with robes while relaxing. And they don't wear robes in Muggle public. Also the robes are a part of the schoole uniform. Probably another reason why they don't wear them while not in class.

Looking sharp, Mr. Redmayne.

Eddie Redmayne as the 13th doctor?

Honestly, I could see it. I've also always thought Benedict Cumberbatch would make a good Doctor Who. But they're both too well-known and busy with film careers. Maybe a few years ago.

Fair enough. I disagree, but I understand where you're coming from.

I can recall several instances where adult wizards wore muggle clothing when interacting with other wizards.

You aren't going to go running in robes, you aren't going to sit down with robes while relaxing.
They did it in the books all the time. In the films, there were times where adult wizards were able to perform physical activities while wearing robes.

Robes are a part of wizard culture just as much as goofy costumes are a part of superhero culture. The films have changed that, but it's my position that they shouldn't have.

Damn Raymane as a wizard was something I did not know I needed until today! I mean, I knew about the film and was excited about it but now that I finally see Eddie as Newt in front of me, boy does he look great!

Redmayne looks 100 times better than I expected him to look. Maybe he won't be a bad pick after all...

Really digging the look of everything. I'm just glad to see a fellow Hufflepuff getting some focus and justice.
