Shyamalan, the main who bastardized the Last Airbender and took a giant steaming dump on one of my favorite TX shows ever, NO JUST NO. I'd kind of like to see Alfonso Cuaron come back for another film. Prisoner of Azkaban was really good.

Why so stuck up on Shyamalan and not my other suggestions?

It's best to just never mention the S word, in any thread....ever. It benefits us all. :p I'd love to have Aflonso Curon in the world of Potter again, Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite film regardless of my favorite book being the Order of the Phoenix.

It's one thing to still like him. Fine okay not gonna rain on your parade....but don't be baffled on why people don't like him. Otherwise, no offense, you come off as a person who's been living under a rock.

It's been well documented for the past 7-8 years. And if it's not about his lack of quality, then look at his box office records. And with The Last Airbender, sure it made decent money, but where's the sequel? The studio knew the backlash was strong so they backed off from the series.

And after After-Earth (heh), he's just a straight-up liability.

Wolfgang Petersen is good suggestion of yours. He directed one the best children's fantasy films ever, so I wouldn't object to him at all.

TO be fair Airwings, I too wouldn't mind Wolfgang. Though he's slowed down a bit in directing. He hasn't directed since 2006.

I wouldn't be surprised if WB tried to get a hold of Guillermo Del Toro. I remember he campaigned hard for a Harry Potter film before WB settled on David Yates for several films.

The only problem now is that Del Toro is probably gonna stick with Universal and Legendary for a while UNLESS he really really really wants to do 'Fantastic Beasts' (and of course, if WB really wants him) This is his second coming for the franchise.

He has a billion other projects in development, so that's why I didn't mention him. He's a great choice due to his style and his frequent use of fantastical creatures in his films.

Actually a zillion.

Man, that dude can drop them all if he really wants to do this. But we'll see. I don't know Del Toro's schedule past his horror film Crimson Peak. Anything's possible.

I still want Del Toro to get on Hellboy III! :argh:

Guillermo Del Toro would be great. He did want to direct one of the Potters, but didn't get the job. Maybe because he had turned down two of the previous films.

I'm not living under a rock. I'm just suggesting directors who were considered to make a Potter. I Think only those should be offered the chair. I don't feel any need to see one who actually directed one, to get back to this universe. It would be a little bad taste in my mouth then.
I can agree that Shyamalan wasn't the best of suggestions now, but earlier in his career he was a candidate for Potter.

Glad that you liked Wolfgang :)
How about some other suggestions: Ivan Reitman, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Rob Reiner and Peter Weir?

I actually suggested jean-Pierre jeunet a page or two back, I would lose control of my faculties with joy if he got the gig. Amilie is one of my favorite movies ever made and he is such a master at capturing that fantasy/ fairy tale tone even in a modern setting.

Look up & watch Burnie vs. Harry Potter on Youtube

M. Night seems to be a nice guy but you can tell he's a complete narcissist. I'm not even joking and trust me, I've worked with 'nice' narcissists before. They're not perspective or initiative to the potential (and limits) of their talents. It's this disconnect that ruins them.

I suggest Brad Bird for this. He will do a great job. The Incredibles is a masterpiece.

Brad Bird again? Why not just let him direct EVERYTHING from now on.
Batman vs Superman, the next Bond, Narnia 4, Star Trek 3, Star Wars ep 7, Avatar 2, Avengers 2, every film in Marvel's phase 3, Justice League etc etc

I love Bird's work, but he's not right for this in my opinion.

We wouldn't know if Bird was right for this or not until he actually tried. Just because a filmmaker has never done a particular type of project before, doesn't mean that they CAN'T do it.

Well then, Nolan. Or Abrams. Or Wright. Those are the only directors in existence aside from Brad Bird, so I don't know what else to tell you. :oldrazz:

True, I just don't see it right now. I would be fine with it though because I enjoy all his films.

Honestly, I haven't really seen Abrams suggested for anything.
