No way. She is way too soft spoken for Artemis. Even when she acts tough.

Artemis is a role I see someone like the previous WW fan favorite, Gina Carano playing. (Though, I'm not really suggesting/advocating for her.) But someone who looks very tough right away.

I do think there is a place for Portman somewhere though!

Portman? No. After TDW she's persona non grata to me. She has to do some AMAZING work in something else for me to forgive her for sleep walking through that mess. Sure, it's not her fault the Jane part was so badly written in the film. It's not her fault that TDW is turdtastic. BUT SHE DIDN'T HELP.

This may be a bit of a different suggestion, but I nominate Gina Torres as Hippolyta. Statuesque beauty, that gorgeous hair, and the amazing skin.
(I actually think a younger Gina Torres could have been a Wonderful Diana)

Lena could do Hippolyta in her sleep. The question is, despite having a working relationship with the Snyders, would she want to do a role that has so many surface similarities to roles she is already known for?

The pics are from the December 2006 W magazine issue. That's 8 years ago now...wow. Not terribly old and Cameron has remained looking very youthful.

Just from the pics alone visually she had serious potential to even play Wonder Woman herself, so I can understand the reasoning behind someone choosing her for Hippolyta. She is now 41 years old and stands 5' 9". We all know that she is no stranger to action and comedy roles and her turn at more dramatic roles have received golden globe nominations (Being John Malkovich, Vanilla Sky, Gangs of New York and Any Given Sunday) making her a well versed actress!!

Personally however I just have a hard time imagining her in the role and I'm not sure what by bias is against her.

Jumping on the Lupita Nyong'o bandwagon for a moment...her casting would give the DC cinematic universe more credible clout.

My first casting thought for her playing a DC hero would be as Vixen (her potential to play Storm is for another forum). However I would be more than thrilled if they choose to combine and make an amalgam of Artemis/Phillipus and cast Lupita in the role. She is 31 years old and stands 5' 5". She is Mexican born and Kenyan raised.

As seen in Amazons Attack, Artemis sported a short cropped hair style:

Lupita Nyon'go would be a great addition if they decide to mix Artermis and Phillipus together. I would be onboard with the choice.

Secondly, I did not even recognize Cameron Diaz from those photos. I almost thought it was Charlize Theron for a second. The more I think of it, what if WB decides to go after Cameron Diaz for Hippolyta? That would be an out of left field choice.

That would be really weird if Diaz was cast, but I agree that she's not aging well, sadly. Then again, they could always make her look younger.

Diaz is still a sexy looking woman with a sensuality few can muster.... But she is totally wrong for the Queen of The Amazons for the DCCU. When she has played dramatic parts I find her best as either the crazy woman, the dangerous woman or the crazy dangerous woman. Regal warrior head of state? Nope... Not in her wheelhouse in my opinion.
