Crazy the amount of people that want Lynda as Hippolyta. Why settle when you can potentially get a better/more accomplished actress for the role?
Some fans are valuing nostalgia over what's best for the film, creatively and financially honestly.

Truth hurts.

Just like people here seem to value height and hair color over acting ability.

Thank Zod they are not in charge. :cwink:
I say that every day of the week.

That is very silly. I'd take the ability of the actor to give a good performance as whichever character any day of the week over stuff like height and hair color (wigs exist guys).

What do you think about Sigourney Weaver as Hera or Circe?

btw anyone else slightly worried that casting a lot of big names will increase the films budget ten-fold?

Debicky for Hippolyta!!! She is tall, slender and imposing!!

That's just too jarring of an age difference. No one would buy that, no matter how hard you try to suspend disbelief.

She's ageless and it's Hollywood. Debicky is not a young gal. BTW nice avvy!

You are too good for Zeus. Zeus is a womanizer!

Yeah in mythology, Zeus was the biggest horndog there was (not to mention a rapist). Heck he once "took a women" while in the form of a Swan.

Since they seem to be going for a more "exotic, Mediterranean" look for Diana, I kind of want her mother to have one as well.

Too bad Ayelet Zurer was already cast as Lara in Man of Steel, I could see her as Hippolyta.

Lena Headey is the right choice for Hippolyta !

That's original. I never would've thought that Lena Headey could play a queen.

After the Fantastic Four disaster I was thinking about these big movies and how having a star or two helps. Not that anything would have saved F4 from failure but it came across as more budget because of it's lack of stars.

I think that they should cast a bigger name than Heady. Pine is good but they need a name or two bigger than him. Stars and really well regarded older actors alone do not bring in box office of course but they bring a kind of cache to a project like this when your lead is only an up and comer.

I know it's not sexy to some people to talk shop but I will and I think that they should aim for a higher profile actress than Heady.

Hippolyta is going to be a role similar to Jor-El and Odin in that it'll a A List name. Man of Steel had Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Amy Adams and Laurence Fishburne, all who are established names alongside Henry Cavill and Michael Shannon, who both weren't big names at the time.

I imagine Warner Bros will be aiming for the likes of Cate Blanchett, Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron etc
