"Mutants vs. Vampires" begins in a new "X-Men" #1 by Victor Gischler and Paco Medina.

The X-Men will be much more integrated into the Marvel Universe. There's a reason that the traditionally non-X-Men characters are in those images.

I hate that htey are calling this X-men #1. Id rather Legacy go back to its originally name and this gets a different one

Great. So the X-verse ignores Storm for a few years and then brings her back...for the vampire book? Also, that cover shows that [blackout]Emma and Colossus[/blackout] aren't the ones to die. So that means [blackout]Cyclops, Emma, and Magneto all survive Second Coming...I thought one of them was meant to die? Or did I get that mixed up?[/blackout]

I read in an interview with Gischler that after the big vampire story arc, which features a lot of characters, the team will be taken down to about four or five members. Hopefully Gambit is 1 of them. He also said that there is going to be characters that barely get used, so that may mean Iceman, Dazzler and Northstar.

I'm looking forward to this and New X-Force more than the others.

I know, but it still seems like a bit of a demotion. Then again, I'm judging this with very little actual knowledge of it. What's Gischler like as a writer?

So far he's only worked on Punisher (which I wouldn't touch a Punisher comic in a million years), and Deadpool comics. He's fairly new to the comic book world, which really doesn't instill me with much faith that we are getting a volume 3 of the X-Men name with such a unknown creative team behind it.

If the premise for the first arc didn't set off the alarm for me about this title, that certainly does.

I wouldn't put too much stock in the outfits yet. The new Medina series has Cyke and Piotr in their pre Messiah complex uniforms. And in this one Emma's in her Hellfire getup

This is the way that Granov draws Emma on all his covers. She appears throughout Second Coming in this same costume on the covers she's on

This article calms some of my fears a bit. Seems like they know what they're doing well enough, and the vampire element is only there for the first arc.

Actually 3. This is replacing Astonishing as the 3rd core book. Astonishing will appear as a limited series under Marvel's new imprint
