let me make one thing clear, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SWING IN THIS THING. DO NOT ATTEMPT AND END UP KILLING YOURSELF. WE HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THIS FOR YEARS AND HAVE COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT NO FORMULA COULD HOLD YOU, AND EVEN IF IT COULD, EVEN AN OLYMPIC ATHLETE WOULDN'T HAVE THE STRENGTH TO DO IT. YOUR ARMS WOULD RIP OFF YOUR BODY. just wanted to clear that up.

What are you guys using the shooters for?

1:to be awesome!
2:best home security ever.
3:to get the remote from across the room.

i was gonna mix pepper spray with some thickened glycerine, find a solvent, add some micro stingers, and make something i like to call sting web. tested. it sucks to get on skin, mouth, eyes, but nothing permanant.

I was, at one point, thinking of making a small tazer-like device that would be inside a spider-tracer thing. I decided against it though, it wouldn't be small enough. Why not just use something more simple instead of glycerine, like water, vinegar, and pepper shavings?

What are the shooters going to be capable of? And could anyone tell me some good, strong, stretchy formulas? Lastly, what are you using for your nozzle, Wdaltmon?

Hi! Just an idea, but since acetone is flammable and all, it would probably be better to use Polyethylene glycol. Its probably harder to get, but if you live in a hot climate, its worth the time. Imagine leaving the house in a rush, only to leave your web shooters and all the chemicals for the fluid by the window. I mean, if you live in a hot climate, its not going to be a pretty sight when you get home.

I don't think anything will happen if it's in a sealed container.

Acetone can't set on fire unless you light it. It would just evaporate in the sun.

At this point, I find myself wondering: What are these shooters going to be capable of? Will they succeed? Also, waht are you using for your nozzle, Wadaltmon? And what are some of the best, stretchy, strong, sticky formulas?

Another thing, what is the difference between PVA and PVA glue? I feel like I could easily get PVA glue. Is PVA glue strong. I can't get any dangerous chemicals, so what are some good formulas with harmless, normal, every-day materials (or at least close to every day). I'm looking for a VERY strong, VERY stretchy, VERY sticky formula. Also, could someone explain to me how to easily make a heated spinneret without needing to buy much? If I need to buy something it would have to be something normal like batteries. If there is some kind of weird electronic thing I need I would appreciate it if someone told me where I could find it (I.e. inside of an old toy, in a remote).

When I say stretchy, I mean very bouncy and elastic.

I want the fluid to splat/separate into strands when it hits something.

To heat the nozzle just wrap a nickel-chromium wire around the nozzle with each end wired to the opposite ends of a battery.
If u really want a strong web then you may need expencive material.
Please quit asking about the formula on the shop class.
Edit use edit if u are going to post within a few minutes of your previous post.

Could you post a link? And wouldn't a battery at each end be very bulky? How would I connect the ends to the battery?

What PVA are you talking about? Polyvinyl Alcohol or Polyvinyl Acetate, both are pretty strong.

Which one would you say is stronger? I was talking about polyvinyl alcohol.

Polyvinyl acetate isn't too flexible...It's quite strong, however.

I know this is the forum for the shooters, but the formula forum seems quite dead. Could somebody please answer my previous questions about the formula? Also, one thing I am having trouble understanding is how all the parts of the shooter are attached. Where does the solenoid go? Where does its power source go? Where does the heating system's power source go? I really don't know how to put it all together, or what the shooter consists of. I really want to know what these shooters will be capable of, too. At this point I just keep asking the same questions, so I would be so happy if someone could explain in a simple way the whole shooter and formula. Right now I think my formula will be something like this: PVA glue, water, liquid latex, and everything glue. The reason I threw in everything glue is because a guy on YouTube made an awesome web using nail polish remover, everything glue, and water. Would the formula I mentioned splat/separate into strands? Will it be very strong? Will it hold a large amount of weight? Will it be elastic-like and stretchy? If not, what are some sticky, stretchy, strong, bouncy formulas? By bouncy I mean a web with the same qualities of elastic. Sorry for bugging everybody.
Edit: What is the difference between polyvinyl alcohol and PVA glue? Would polyvinyl alcohol or polyvinyl acetate be better in my formula?

for a basic webshooter you need a pressurized container with a dip tube and a valve also a trigger to activate it. The order of that is, connect the pressurized container to the valve and connect the valve to the trigger. The shooters are capable of shooting webs and entangling objects. For the formula ( I'm not as good at this part as wadaltmon) you want a stretchy formula, why? Anyway you need a solvent, an elastomer, and an adhesive. If that is not strong enough you can create copolymer, which won't be as stretchy but adds tensile strength.

Most of your questions are hard to answer because they are based on how you build your own device. Also I forgot about the nozzle in my last post, it goes container, valve nozzle, then trigger. Pretty simple when you get all the materials together.
