I agree. I feel the same about the Eiffel Tower.

That being said, the Statue of Liberty will most definitely be on there.

Yahoo reports that it and the Sydney Opera House have been in the bottom 10 of the 21 candidates since the beginning of the year.

where the hells skywalker ranch??
I liked on Conan, he had George Lucas on and was saying it's a good thing you changed Starkiller to Skywalker 'cause that'd be awkward inviting cebrities for screenings.
"Welcome to Starkiller Ranch!"

IMO, it doesnt hold a candle to the bulk of the other candidates, including:

But will the Statue of Liberty be impressive centuries from now??????

That to me is what makes a "Wonder of The World" ......

I rode that last year, and saw a youtube of it with the lights on...it's not that scary when you see it, the turns and the speed are what get you.

I think the following are locks for selection:

1.) Statue Of Liberty
2.) Christ The Redeemer
3.) The Great Wall Of China
4.) Stonehenge
5.) The Statues of Easter Island

Anybody else agree/disagree that the above are undeniable classics? Although I must admit I'm iffy on the Statue Of Liberty: These other icons have stood up to weathering for hundreds of years. Liberty could fall or be destroyed just like the Colossos of old.

okay call me stupid.. but i didnt know the other seven had fallen.. and i thought these that are being mentioned now WERE part of the list already ... can someone enlighten me please?? sorry for my ignorance... furthermore.. i thought sites such as Angel Falls... Mt Rushmore.. and the likes were also on the List or are those NATURAL wonders???

Lost.. sorry :csad:

Yeah, I know Mt. Rushmore should be on the list. That's the only natural type of monument I know that took some dedication to complete.

But don't these "Wonders" need to be manmade in order to qualify?

It's fun to watch, they have these shows on PBS where teams of world renowned engineering experts try to recreate these things from the past using only technology from that era and they always have a super difficult time, or can't do it at all.....though they don't have the luxury of a bunch of expendable slaves.
