Yes Johns does seem to hate Batman, really look at ANY appearance he has written Batman in and its clear as day.

How is it hating Batman that he wants to have a new intriquing relationship between Bruce and Alfred, and showing how ridicilously diffucult it is to start out as Batman. Did Nolan hate Bruce when Bruce receives bruises from his failed leap-jump?

I have no problem with the idea of Batman initially being bad at what he does and doing it for selfish reasons. It makes sense he'd start out like that and grow into the role over time.

Dang, what is JMS' obsession with slowing Superman down and not having him fly? Anyway, not really down with this weird, "angry urban avenger" take on Supes. Maybe DC hasn't explored that period because seeing Clark as an angry youth isn't really that interesting...

It was only a few pages, I don't think it's safe to assume that it's going to be all angry urban avenger-y just because he starts off living in a lousy neighborhood.

Yeah we know he's gonna fly and use the Costume. 1st villain in the trade is related to Krypton's destruction... So it's likely Brainiac/Zod. :)

It better be Zod. I'm sick if the idea of Brainiac being Kryptonian.

Simple, I don't find it new or intriguing. I find it silly and not needed. I mean sure Alfred is a bad ass and he is like that not because of all his experience to me but because he is the one man who can stand up to Bruce like no one else and Bruce will sit back and listen and get all pissed because he KNOW Alfred is right. I think showing Bruce as a flawed hero to begin with is ok because i loved it in Batman Begins but adding the Alfred part to teh extent that it seems like he will "show-up" Bruce is just dumb. Alfred is the ultimate advice/support character, don't need to make him bad ass.

Superman: Earth One sounds cool, but Batman: Earth One sounds really dumb.

Hush just brought up a really good point...

I would not be surprised if Alfred constantly "put Bruce in his place"

First All Star, and now Earth One Superman looks like it'll own the ***** out of Batman's.

If Johns didn't like Batman, he wouldn't be writing a Batman book.

Exactly. Johns seems exciting on writing new villains, his take on the villains and introducing Robin and Batgirl which he confirmed. Yeah Batman is going to be a spoiled *****ebag whos constantly upgrading his costume, but to me (what Gary Frank said) this is really about Alfred teaching Bruce to the proper path.

infinite crisis.

please stop spreading rumors to the newbs.

Stay tuned for my new book, "Blitzkrieg Bop is dumb and wrong".

Obviously I'm writing it because of how much I like Blitzkrieg Bop.:awesome:

Batman sounds great to me but Supes not really which I'm dissappointed with because I digg JMS :csad:

I was watching Mr. Plinkett's review of Star Trek yesterday and this touches on one of his points about what Abrams did. Take one aspect of previous characterization and amp it up to overly heightened proportions. Take Clarks struggle to realize what he wants to do from one issue to graphic novel length with all the angst involved.

Neither of them sound appealing to me. If anything, I might be tempted to flip through Earth One: Batman for the sheer novelty of it, but I doubt I'd ever spend money on either of these.

I might be wrong but I read somewhere that Johns did Earth One Batman as a favor for Gary Frank who is a Batman fan wanted to do it.

Hahahahahaha. Good god with these pathetic rumours actually becoming arguments. Do you guys truly think Johns would rather write Batman than just get Frank into a Batman project instead? With Tony Daniel and David Finch being allowed to writer/art Batman stuff, it shouldn't be too diffucult to let Frank get the same treatment.

It's so sad to see people here nagging and whining how Batman Earth One is bad simply because it's going to be a different take, wheres Superman is about Supes getting an Alien fleet coming down to Metropolis.

Except that it isn't, really. The idea of Batman being incompetent as a hero when he starts out has been done in Year One. It's been done in Batman Begins. Hell, it was even done in a few segments of Mask of the Phantasm. Put that together with the fact that Johns can't write Batman to save his life, and it's really not hard to see why so many people are a bit underwhelmed by what we know about this so far. It's not just whining for the sake of whining.

Nice to see you ignore Bruce being spoiled, Alfred having a new take, a new villain getting introduced among so much more. :) :) :) :) :)

Ignorence at it's finest! Damn you Willowwood inmates. :p

Ah, the magic of ignorance *sits back in his rocking chair with glass of tang* :awesome:
