Welcome to Earth One!

Meh, I call for Green Lantern: Earth One to feature Kilowog. It'd be a bold move, DC! :o
hells yes! i want that to happen
Thats like saying Superman Earth One should be about Mol-El and Batman Earth One about Jean-Paul. >_>

I would buy the s*** out of a Batman: Earth One featuring Jean-Paul. :oldrazz:
wow, this is the exact opposite of how i would have expected this exchange to occur, am i in bizzaro world?

Drz likes the new Azrael. I liked Jean-Paul because he had a strong redemption arc (ignoring the last few issues of his series where he goes crazy again and dies).

OOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH...... yeah, i was thinking jean-paul would be right up drz's alley because i was thinking knightfall era jean-paul.

Yeah, f*** Jean-Paul in that period. But after that, he gets the System under control and learns to be a hero with Leslie Thompkins' help (yet another reason I absolutely loathed "War Games"/"War Crimes").

yeah i'm with you, it's just that's always what pops up in my head first for jean-paul.

I differentiate 'em by calling that version "AzBat" pretty much exclusively.

I like Jean-Paul too, but my reading of him is just limited to the 4-issue mini and Knightfall. They really need to collect the Jean-Paul series to trades.

DC should collect the Azrael series in trade

I agree with the both of yez. I missed a lot of his series, in spite of my being a big fan of Jean-Paul in general, so I'd love to catch up on those bits I missed.

Then wouldn't it be called "Green Lantern: Bolovax Vik One?"
No. He'd crash on Earth instead of Abin Sur but survive through sheer tenacity and awesomeness. Then he'd punch Hal out and continue as Green Lantern on Earth. :oldrazz:

So your ideal Green Lantern writer for Earth One?

Nah he's already writing that stuff. Get Paul Cornell there god damnit!

I'm curious about how Morrison would tackle the GL mythos. I'm not a huge fan of what he's done with Batman, but he certainly does have very unique and interesting thoughts on the big icons.

I liked how he did Kyle Rayner, but yeah him touching the WHOLE Green Lantern mythos would be very exciting. He made X-Men into a culture. He made Batman into a Legion... What would he do to the space cops?!

I'd hazard a guess, but I'm not on lots of mind-altering drugs, so I'm sure it'd be way off. ;)

The way he tells it, he mostly just smokes pot.

You mean, like, nowadays? Because I remember him talking about using his body as a glorified test tube for all kinds of drugs when he hit 30 or something once. And his whole 'Supercontext' idea seems to imply he really loves him some powerful psychedelics.

I would probably pick up a GL: Earth One from him, even though I have no interest in the idea or imprint, that could be cool. I would just prefer he did a run on the regular titles.

I would not. Like I said, I'm not a fan of his Batman ideas. But if they were separated out into their own thing, I'd probably be more receptive.

I would probably be up for it either way, but I just don't care at all about this Earth One stuff. I doubt most of what he'd do would last past his own run anyway, if it were in the mainstream DCU.

Yeah, I'm curious to see what happens when he's off Batman's comics. His ideas for the X-Men were dropped literally immediately after he stopped writing their comics. Then again, I think he's been making more money for DC with his Batman run than he did for Marvel with his X-Men run, so that'll probably ensure at least a little bit more longevity to his ideas.
