Welcome to Earth One!

We'll know the next time Geoff Johns or Gary Frank are interviewed. Gary Frank should do a faster job for the sake of keeping his job.

First up was a question regarding the status of DC’s “Earth One” line of original graphic novels. Harras replied, “‘Superman: Earth One’ was phenomenal and right now we are working on the sequel. I actually saw pages yesterday from artist Shane Davis. It was awesome! We have “Batman: Earth One” in the works. That should come out…we’re hoping late this year or early next year, and that’s by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank. We have other ‘Earth One’ series in the works, but I can’t really comment on them right now.”

Lol so Batman: Earth One is either coming late this year or early next year. >__< They should definatly aim at late this year and try and cash-in with the release of Batman: Arkham City, tho Batman alone sells so it probably doesn't matter that much.

Also please let the next Earth One be Wonder Woman! You can get money out of GL thru the Geoff Johns books! :D

I'm still hoping the next Earth One's are Wonder Woman, not sure who I want on the book, but I want Grant Morrison to write The Flash: Earth One.

My general fear with an EO Wonder Woman is we'll essentially get an Ultimate Cap situation where they just create an ubered up version of a general misconception of the character (in this case, an angry warrior ***** who will castrate you at the drop of a hat). It won't matter to the main character, obviously, but we've have enough of that part of the character and don't need more.

Except that Ultimate Cap is only an über warrior when he is on the field, when he is dead serious. Otherwise he is a genuily nice guy who gladly spents time with others such as serving thanks giving turkeys to troops in Afghanistan.

Yeah, but either way, that version is very much there, whether it's just in the field or otherwise. It's not as big an issue with Ultimate Cap, since the mainstream Cap stays away from that junk, and the former is essentially a giant parody of that misconception, but the whole warrior ***** thing as been seeping into Wonder Woman for awhile now, and less of its needed.

Ultimate Captain America is far from a parody, if anything is a parody it's how mainstream Cap just prisons people like Crossbones instead of doing the right thing to protect his country.

No, that aspect of Ultimate Cap is definitely a parody of this idea of Cap being all 'Ra-Ra America' like he was as the original propaganda creation of the character. I know you absolutely refuse to acknowledge that, for some reason, but it's pretty obvious.

But he isn't all Ra-Ra America, how much of Ultimate Marvel have you even read?

I've probably told you a thousand times that I've read the first two volumes of the original Ultimates, along with some of the first of Ultimate Spider-Man. And I'm just going to plea the 'Nubs on this one anyway, because we've had this conversation multiple times, and it leads to same conclusion. I think me and you simply have to quit talking about anything related to Ultimate Marvel.

Well maybe you should do some re-reading! >: )

Maybe you should find an emoticon that actually looks like lion :(

i agree with tronn bone.

"Surrender? You think this 'A' stands for france?" Ultimate Cap is definetely a souped up "Ra ra" neoconservative patriot, at least in millar's version, the only version of "ultimates" i care about

i agree with tronn bone.

Nick Fury: Listen, i gotta tell you that "doesn't stand for France" line was the funniest thing i heard in ages, man. Where'd you get that? I was telling Hawkeye earlier and he was just cracking up.
Steve: I dunno, Just one of those stupid things that comes into your head sometimes when you're pounding somebody, y'know?

Fun things you can learn by reading Ultimates volume 1. :) Steve cares about the world and not just "god bless america". Of course some of Marvel's french fans did end up complaining so much about it that Millar had 2 french soldiers surrender to Steve when he was escaping the STRIKE/SWORD facility so Steve beat them up. :word: He also wanted to put a bullet thru Magneto's skull to make the world abit safer, but when he's out of combat he's a very kind person to his friends and soldiers.

circumventing the justice system is the right thing? i think your problem with this issue is that you just don't understand captain america at all.

Being correct is extremely dumb, I agree. Shame on you, BeeDub. One more blatant show of accuracy and I will whip out the banhammer so fast you won't even see it coming. :argh:

It can't be considered bigotry when Steve remarks how stupid him referring to french was. He isn't right.

"Do cocaine? You think this A on my head stands for Ni***r!"
"Woah, Cap, that was pretty funny, where'd you get that from?"
"Oh, you know, just something silly that came to mind when I'm punching people."

"Hoard money? You think this A on my head stands for Jew!"
"Woah, Cap, that was pretty funny, where'd you get that from?"
"Oh, you know, just something stupid I came up when pounding on people."

Yeah, you're right, that totally takes away any real racial or regional aspects that might be present in those statements.

So am I the only one who thinks Batman: Earth One is turning into the second coming of All-Star Batman and Robin?

Well, it has to come out first to be off any kind of schedule :o
