I do not care for the growl. He sounds like he is yelling.
I kinda like the way voice on the Watchmen trailer sounds when he says, "The world will look up and shout, 'Save us!' And I'll wisper, 'No.'"
After hearing his voice, I thought to myself that it sounded like batman![]()
After The Dark Knight growl~I wonder if Bale's throat was sore...I just did the "Where are they?" and I need to go gargle with salt.....![]()
His growl works much, much better this time out. He's understandable, but pretty frightening.
Never have liked the Bale-Bat-voice. It's irritating and unnecessary. Not to mention hard to understand at times. All he has to do is lower his voice and alter it slightly (like he did in Begins while talking to Rachel in the Bat-cave). Sometimes it was so over the top that it was almost funny. Best bat voice probably belongs to Kilmer, slightly altered but cool sounding.
I believe he was criticizing the execution of said concept, not the actual idea of altering your voice for a dual identity. That part is obvious to most fans. His voice altrication is VERY necessary indeed. Not about sounding cool but menacing to those who need it to sound that way and unique to those who know bruce wayne too well.
We all know Tobey f'd up that part of the character. But Reeve and even Routh, managed to use very different tones in their respective roles. He sounds like a Crazy dude who can **** u up and willing to talk like that. Even superman sounds EXACTLY the same and spiderman to those who kno them all too well it just makes them stupid to not figure **** out.

And that's really all I was pointing out. Reeve made an effort to distinguish both personas. Very nicely done, for the fact that all he had to work with were glasses, a different hair-do, and a suit. I was most impressed with speech mannerisms and voice inflections as Clark. His stature aside, you wouldn't be able to tell that this guy was Superman. No sorry superman fails in every attempt of having a smart secret Identity. Just makes his universe look stupid. Reeve at least acting like an idiot and mostly wore the hat and lightened his swagga a little where as he turns serious toned and really stand up chest out as superman but still...
I don't really see how, as his Clark was basically a Reeve impersonation through and through.Routh failed absolutely in doing so as he just sounded too similar to his counter part.
I always thought Bale's voiceover for the Superbowl spot was pitch-perfect for what I had envisioned Batman to be. It was raspy and growly, but not overly so. Most importantly, it had no resemblance to his Bruce Wayne voice.Anyway I agree that Bale should have just used his own voice but had technology to alter it making it sound deeper and more menacing, but it still works for what they are going for. It was waaaay better in Begins.
I had no problem with him yelling his lines, if the situation called for it. For instance, when he's trying to get answers out of Maroni and Joker. Other times though, it really sounds marbled when he yells out long lines. I've watched the film twice, and there were at least 2 scenes where I had no clue what Bale was saying. That spoof vid speaks a lot of truth, albeit in a mocking but comedic way.Only problem with Batman's whole thing in this is his lack of ninjitsu and getting too emotional which had him yelling too much and getting angry a lot rather than being calm and to the point. The Joker really got under his skin...lol.
Some people just don't ****ing get it ... he has a seperate identity and the channeling of rage. It's not about having a Bruce Wayne identafiable whisper to a voice. Like most hardcore fanboys, they get an image or an idea in their head and can't accept adaptation intially ... if ever. I mean people complained about the Joker's look initially for TDK ... he was ****ing totally cool looking in a realistic adapted manner while still staying true to the characteristics. Bale's Batman voice is the best around, IMO. He actually had the balls to take it somewhere, and unfortunately either people who can't grasp it or had the same old same old idea in their head ... they were polarized by it. But you can't be mad that the guy with the most talent to don the cape and cowl had the balls and fortitiude to actually do something with voice and the character.
