The Dark Knight Wha does everyone think of Bale's Batman voice?

It's not a distraction from how good Batman Begins & TDK are but it is really really really annoying & silly, yeah he's masking his voice but why sound like that, it sounds terrible. And it doesn't make sense in TDK for him to talk in his deep voice to Lucius when they are all alone & Lucius knows full well who he is, either bad scripting or bad direction is to blame there.

lol im glad you said that cos i was thinking the same thing... it made me feel awkward as, like u said, lucious knew it was wayne.... he must hav bin thinkin WTF!??! somebody call an exorcist!!

The part with Joker was the worst of the whole movie. They might as well played that Scat Man song.

It's a real shame, because Ledger gave such an amazing show
and it's sad that Bale almost ruined all their shared scenes.

Christian Bale was the Katie Holmes of TDK.

I dont mind the voice, imo it suits this version of Batman, but there are certain parts where its either really hard to understand what he's saying or its inaudible, but thats a not a huge problem.

Nay, Batman has done the Batman voice to people who knows he is Batman in (most) of the older movies aswell. Imo, when he's in his cape and cowl, he is no longer Bruce Wayne, he is something entirely different. If he had used his normal voice with Lucius and Rachael, it certainly wouldnt have sit well with me.

I think that Batmans voice was so aggresive and itimidating. Also because The Joker pushed the limits on him and wanted to break that one rule he has!!!

I thought it was cool, i dont get what's so wrong with it for some, but i guess it's a matter of opinion :yay:

I didnt have any trouble understanding him and i thought it was very intimidating at times, which was also the idea, aswell as masking his Bruce Wayne one.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with Bale's batman voice. It adds more to his character and is one of the great things that sets him apart from all the previous movie Batmen; his aggression.

Just try putting any other batman in Bale's place, during, for example, the joker interrogation scene. His intensity makes the scene 100 times better.

Jeez, I'm not going to say that people are being trolls for having a negative opinion, but if you let the voice ruin your experience of this movie at all you've seriously exaggerated how bad it was.

Bear in mind batman actually didn't talk for most of his time onscreen.

Only a couple of lines seemed off to me, mostly I like it.

The thread asks us to discuss this element of the film. It didn't ruin the WHOLE movie for me, but it was just an annoying element that kept the movie from being a better "Batman" movie (and not "just" a great movie).

Again, for me, it was indeed a great movie, but a far from perfect representation of the Batman character .

Thats silly Batmans voice is VERY important and we all know it Kevin Conroy is revered as the voice of Batman if it wasnt that important would you be happy with a irish/scottish/mexican ect accented batman in Mask of the phantasm? its a great movie so it wouldnt matter would it?:whatever:.

Bales voice ruins every scene he is in the only time he has ever sounded good was the "now where two" part in BB. Nolan must have never have heard of a film technique called voiceover dubbing.

Agreed.

At the end of the TDK, the voice got really unbearable to listen to. It sounded like he was hyperventilating.

Considering Conroy's SOLE responsibility was to have a good voice that's the least i'd expect from him.

Look, I'm not going to pretend Bale's voice was ideal because it wasn't. But I also can't say I ever found it so bad it ruined any scene for me, and I'm glad he tried something new even if his execution only half worked.

I love the voice its awesome and like other's have said only one or 2 lines are off the rest of the voice is perfect. He sorta sounds like Snake when he does the Bat voice & if you say Snake sounds silly then you have bad taste :hehe:

eh you know he was only beaten with a crowbar, bit by 2 dogs, had been fighting over 30 people, and just recently got shot

so theres a reason why he was hyperventilating its called acting.

I thought the best delivery was in the interrogation-scene, came off more natural than the others... the only grudge I have, would be the confrontation with Lucius, when he had Rachel for himself in the Batcave in Begins, he used his "private" Bruce Wayne-voice, should have went with the same here. But I had no problem with it.

But the mere fact that the voice is just a pretend tool grates me no end this and other obvious signs in BB and TDK reduce Batman to a tool created to scare criminals then a dark part of Bruce Waynes personality personified created the day his parents died BTAS,B89,BR and even Batman Forever got this aspect of batman right.

Those batmen could be burning in hot oil and still would keep the voice because its a part of them and not a scare device.

I loved it, and really don't see the problem with the voice. It gets really annoying to see this topic talked about over and over again. I suggest this thread close.

Suggestion: OP, next time you type in the options for your polls, make sure that 3/4 of them AREN'T negative.:whatever:

I hope I don't get flamed for this but... I thought Michael Keaton did the best Batman voice. He did not attempt to "mask" his voice at all. Frankly, his Batman really did not care if people figured it out. Hell, he TOLD Vicky the same way CB's Batman told Rachel.

I say in the next movie CB should speak with only a slightly lower voice, not so dramatic, but more natural.

Besides, if people really want to know who the Batman is, all they have to do is ask one question... Who in this city has the financial resources to pull this off??? ONE... Bruce Wayne.

The reason this topic pops up again and again is that it is an issue that bothers many people.
Let's face it, to many, including myself, Bale's acting (and creating a fitting voice IS part of acting
(see what it did for Ledger's character) as Batman was probematic
and subpar compared to the rest of the cast.
