Religion does not need a forum. Threads open and get closed all the time on religion. Opening a religious forum is just asking for heated arguments and multiple infractions. Both believers and non-believers are guilty of getting riled up. Its ALMOST impossible to have a civil dispute on it, although I have seen it done.

I wouldnt miss it. In fact I think most of the "Discussion: (topic)" threads would fit right at home in the community section. Certainly heated debates but less bias and infuriating as the ones for specific political parties. We can get rid of those too, polictical parties, no use they are.

Think of this for a second. As it stands, we have bigots and buttholes here who believe it's necessary to not only preach their belief system to anyone whether they want to listen or not, but to also belittle and bemoan and condemn others for believing what they do, since it's different. And that's just having one thread. Imagine all the trolling and flaming we're going to get when it comes to be an entire forum. People going into the Muslim/Islam threads either posting pics of Achmed the Dead Terrorist, or just right out calling them terrorists. Atheists and Christians fighting in all sorts of threads. It'd easily be as bad as the politics forum is now, when it's on a good day. Nell2ThaIzzay said it best.:

???? I don't understand. There are apparently performance issues on this site and we want to add another forum that will be filled with (likely) perpetually closed topics. Anybody who's seen any religious based thread on this site knows it never lasts long. The idea of polite conversation is a near myth on the internet anymore, and it's even worse when religion is involved. If there are religious members looking to "pursue their interest and passions" around religion don't you think there would be a far better site somewhere that's dedicated to that beside a comic book site? Seems out of place to me, and unnecessary.

Obviously, with as many infractions we hand out daily for people being jerks to one another because they're "trying to be funny", and how many more reports we get from people doing so, we're not.

To have that many threads related to religion it would be necessary for an entire forum encompassing the topics therein.

Also, in order to keep things in check there would have to be designated threads for the various subjects.

1) That's like turning off the containment unit from Ghostbusters. The result would be cataclysmic failure of epic proportions. Old Testament, real wrath of God type stuff. Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling! Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes! Volcanoes! The dead rising from the grave!
