Yeah, atheism kinda defeats itself that way... Morality is relative, yet they get a angry when islamists opress people. We don't have any free will, and they credit themselves for thinking rationally. If they are, as they believe, flesh puppets with no free will, no real value... Why care about discrimination, opression and murder? I guess they can't help themselves, being flesh puppets governed by the laws of physics

Maybe I should stop listening to fundamentalist atheists. Their ideas and thoughts are no more than chemical reactions in their brains.

I have not heard a single atheist believe that. The closest I can think of is saying that if there is a God that predetermines everything, then we have no free will. Honestly, from what you have said in this thread, it comes off like you don't know what atheism even means. And it certainly doesn't mean that you think no one has free will.

Your arguments don't hold up well, they're rehashed arguments of the religious and they've been debunked many times over.

Like the atheistic arguments, in other words. "Communism isn't atheistic!", "you don't believe in Zeus or Apollo?" And "unicorns", of course. When does the flying spaghetti monster show up?

Like I said in my earlier post; atheists have their holy scriptures too.

Yes because all atheists are moral relativists, who don't believe in free will.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go look at my atheist holy scriptures.

That post is entirely devoid of logic, reason, or understanding.

Edit- not yours, Thundercrack.

Please provide one that all atheists abide by. Because atheism is the lack of a religion, it's not a religion, they don't all believe in the same text.

Ah, the old "atheists can never do anything bad"-argument. If they do anything wrong, it's not because of their pilosophy, it's because they are really religious. Am I right?
I never once said, nor did I imply, that atheists can never do anything bad. Are you familiar with the term, "straw-man?"

You do realize that being an atheist means you're simply not religious right?

I don't think that was to be taken literally. :p

Everyone has some holy doctrine that they consider sacrosanct and will fight for. It doesn't matter if you're the Pope or a dedicated atheist.

I don't think he's familiar with much, really.

No, that is wrong. You may be using words loosely for rhetorical effect, but the result is that you are simply being inaccurate.

Fundamentalist atheists?

You know what I mean, the crazier ones. People like Richard Dawkins who defends pedophilia, encourages atheists to bully religious people, supports infanticide etc. Peter Singer, Sam Harris who wants racial profiling on airports. Moral relativists.

Sam Harris doesn't believe in free will. Dawkins denies it, Daniel Dennett... Most of the hardcore atheists don't believe in free will.

Would you mind providing sources for those? I'm not familiar with Harris and Dennett but the closest I've read from Dawkins is essentially him saying it doesn't matter in an interview with PBS.

Here's the link for that, if you are wanting to read it:

EDIT: Also, you speak about atheists as if they all have the same beliefs. Once again, atheism is the lack of belief in a God. I'm sure I can find things I don't agree with all three of those people on.

You mean outspoken atheists. But even they're not a uniform block. The people you listed have their own disagreements.

I'm probably the most outspoken atheist on this board, and I don't share a number of their views.

Yeah, yeah, outspoken atheists. Poor choice of words, sorry:)

I'm not saying that you're one of them. There are many atheists who are decent, normal people. My point earlier was that some atheists act like the religious people they ridicule. They quote people like Richard Dawkins on morality and the meaning of life, and William Provine on free will. Sam Harris even wrote a book where he "debunks" free will... Or, Sam Harris' neurons made his fingers write a book on Free Will.

That's rich coming from a Christian. Did you know that the majority of the prison population in the States is religious? Very few atheists in prison.

So, for you to say that many atheists are decent, normal people is a bit of an insult given that they're the least represented in prison.

I'll get back to it, have to find it first. But if you're curious, check out Sam Harris' book on free will. I believe that's the title of the book as well. He's one of the "four horsemen". Or "three horsemen, now that Hitchens has passed away.

I didn't mean that all atheists have the same beliefs. Maybe I didn't make that clear, but I was always talking about the hardcore atheists. The ones with the same philosophy ss Dawkins, Provine, Hamilton etc.
