The Dark Knight What are the differences between the novel and the film?

Dennis O'Neil wrote both the novels (and he's a pretty good Batman writer IMHO), although I like the BB novel better than the TDK one, because it's got more backstory. In the BB novel you get parts of Ra's al Ghul's diary pertaining to Bruce and Ra's project to destroy Gotham, as well as a look into Bruce's life with the League of Shadows, in addition to the story from the film. In the TDK novelization, you get to know what happened to Scarecrow between the ending of BB and when he appears in TDK, but that's about it for extra info, the rest of the novel plays out pretty much exactly like the movie.

The Opening has Bruce thinking of Ra's Final moments, IIRC?

Yeah, I just leafed through the beginning of my copy, and it's Bruce replaying the final battle with Ra's in his head and contemplating the things that ultimately caused his transformation into Batman.
I'd forgotten about that - it's been a while since I the novelizations

What happened to Scarecrow between the movies, according to the novel?

I don't think he did anything except for amass his own gang from the escaped Arkham patients and attain some level of power within the criminal underworld. This was actually mentioned briefly in one of the Gotham Tonight videos for the TDK viral.
