I remember I saw the Batman Begins teaser online during a computer class and had to try to contain my excitement so that the teacher wouldn't notice! GREAT teaser. Didn't even know it was batman til the end.
I watched the Superman Returns teaser again last week and that thing still brings a tear to my eye. It was PERFECT. Iconic, epic, and ended with that amazing shot of Superman blasting down to earth, the little sonic boom, and then the tiny streak as he heads into the city.
I remember the first time I saw it was when they showed it during Smallville the same night it came out befre the Harry Potter film at the time. I had told my friends it was coming out and since most of them were at the theatre in line already when it aired during Smallville, they were all texting me (I didn't go to Harry Potter, as I'd be seeing it that weekend with my family) asking how it was. I resisted the urged to really give them my opinion and merely replied "just wait"
I think I was literally squealing as I watched it. My mom was watching Smallville with me and as she watched my reaction to the trailer, she just laughed.
While I watched it over and over again since I recorded Smallville just to get the teaser, they waited in line, and later that night I got about 10 text messages from people who saw the teaser and were floored by it. The rest of them told me how amazed they were by it at school the next day.
As far as we could tell, the greatest hero of them all was coming back with a vengeance.
Of course in the end, we were duped. But that trailer...that trailer just gives me CHILLS even today.
As far as initial teasers for superhero movies, DC is EASILY taking the taco. For that reason alone I can't wait for and can only imagine what the Green Lantern teaser is going to be like.
Black screen. There's a low hum. The sound of energy coursing through something...or perhaps the music starting up.
Suddenly a voice is heard:
"In brightest day..."
I CAN'T WAIT!
PS
Honorable mention goes to the original Spider-Man teaser. It had that same effect of not knowing what the movie was about until the end. I understand why they ended up not using it, but I wish they could have found a way to re-cut it and just have the chopper stuck between any random buildings or something. It was a great teaser.
