I'm not talking about the real ones that are investigated by Mystery Inc. I mean the kind that pop up around Halloween time. What's something you don't like about them, or something that bugs you about them. Basically what's something you would give as a critique to Haunted Houses in general?

The people that cling to you as you're walking through. How am I supposed to be alert and spry when you're cowering practically on top of me. I need a 3ft radius to allow for maximum mobility in case something insane jumps out at me and I gotta haul ass. Don't get it twisted, I will run you over. I'm not gettin eaten cuz you're to scared to move forward. :o

Yes! That's a huge pet peeve when it comes to Houses, especially when you got people you don't know rubbing against you cause they don't want to go forward. There definitely needs to be more crowd control at houses.

A solid majority play it safe. Go balls out with the scares where it could exacerbate someone's heart condition, or where they have attempts by the city council to have it shut down because they consider it "not safe for public viewing". A haunted house like that is worth the admission.

Agreed, a lot also fall prey to using generic costumes in their houses. Jason, Micheal and even the Scream Guy are still pretty prevalent these days.

Another prob is too many people in close proximity to each other. Hearing somebody scream 10 feet ahead of you kinda takes away form the surprise around the corner. I get that it'd piss people off if they only admitted 1 small group in the house every 10 mins, but it'd totally be worth it to essentially have the place to yourself so you can really be scared.

If I ever came into an obscene amount of money, I'd totally pay to have a haunted attraction to myself(and small group of friends) on night

Wouldn't that be amazing? I know what you mean though, often times they get compact and the line gets backed up. This is especially awkward when you enter a room and some guy jumps out and scares you, then you're stuck in that room with him because the line isn't moving forward.

I work at one during the October month, have for the past 7 or 8 years now. They try to control it so there are no movie costumes, they make a lot fo costumes, put their own spin on Halloween store masks, etc. It's called Talon Falls down here in KY if anyone is interested.

However, since this is the problem thread, gotta say the crowds if I'm in one. Sometimes people are so scared they move so slowly, and the whole damn line backs up for a long ways. It's not scary if I'm backed in a hallway with 30 other people with one or two monsters trying to scare me or my group, this being that I usually can see where they are at some point or another. Trust me, if you are doing the scaring, it's not an easy job either.

They're overdone. True fear is feeling vulnerable in a place that is supposed to be secure. My dining room has a big window that looks out to the front porch. If I walked by it at night and saw Pennywise standing there just looking at me, I'd **** myself. Just thinking about it creeps me out.

That they're not real :(

or at least a decent scare in any case.

Someone should make one like the Borley haunted mansion in Silent Hill 2, with the same "surprise" at the end :p

So a horror house, but flash mob style, appearing when you'd least except it? That'd be scary as ****.

When you go to one and someone actually dies due to one of the actors actually being a serial killer.

I actually went to my first haunted house last Halloween, it wasnt bad but then again it wasnt as scary as everyone says, most of the time i was laughing my ass off at monsters and people who were scared s******* ( aka my brother lol)

I went to one in NYC once and we had to pass through this all white room and there were people camouflaged into the wall somehow. Never again. :(

Dark room, check.
Interesting lighting, check.
Time to have fun, check.
and then some silly fool tries to spook you ...
