Okay we only seen the teaser footage of TDKR
knowing Nolan was inspired for BB by looking to Blade Runner
and Nolan was inspired with TDK watching Heat.

What will Nolan's inspiration this time be?

Bane's character could be inspired by hannibal

What other inspiration could have nolan got for TDKR???

sorry for my bad english.

Prince of the City was a movie mentioned by Gill awhile ago when it came to the themes of TDKR. Need to check it out one of these days.

Aside from Gill, has anyone from the cast or crew like Wally, mentioned that book?

Was Apocalypse Now also mentioned, or was that just a rumor?

I could easily see that officer from Prince of the City being behind Nixon. Replace corruption with exposing the truth of Two-Face's murders. That would make him an anti-Batman, as we're told he will have an anti-Batman stance.

Knight was not inspired by Heat. The Joker's bank robbery scene in the beginning was inspired by the heist in Heat. That's all. Also, the look of Begins was inspired by Blade Runner. That's all. Judging from the teaser poster, it looks like Rises is inspired by Inception.

well i have to disagree, there's a lot of shots that's seems directly from heat (besides the robbery), for instance the hospital scene where the cop was walking, view from his back, it was very similar to the opening in heat where the De Niro just walk through out a hospital. The modern surroundings and architecture in TDK was also reminiscent of michael Mann's approach in set design (lot's and lot's of clean lines, white concrete), then the bank manager who got shot, (William fitchner?) also a nod casting from heat.

I'm pretty sure that's wrong because I've seen many places cite Heat as his inspiration for TDK, and I'd imagine were it a misconception I'd have seen it called out a lot more.

Gill mentioned the aproach to Bane was like Hannibal Lecter, that he is going to be very vicious and smart.
We've also seen the relations ( or coincidences?) to A Tale of two cities.
If Prince of the city is also an inspiration for this film, maybe that's the role JGL is playing here.

Batman Begins, Blade Runner, Heat and The Dark Knight are all in my personal top 100.

Will TDKR go there and is it's main inspiration already there? :D

There is a shot in TDK where Bale is seen walking along wall during the funeral scenes that looks just like the poster/scene from Carlito's Way. Look at the poster and that shot and you'll see what I'm talking about.

cmon guys tdkr is based off Godzilla...well at least bane is

when the joker and batman are in the interrogation room it reminds of the scene between pacino and deniro in the cafe...not sure why lol

Jonathan Nolan has said that he also thought about this.

awesome..good to know i wasnt the only one who thought about it.....also i'm not sure but i see some empire strikes back inspiration in tdk as well, always got that vibe from it too

Nolan likes the movie "black sunday"... he screened it even before production began on dark knight in '08 ... i wonder if the football scene in this will have anything to do with that :)

Going back to Blade Runner, I could see Nolan using Roy Batty as a model for Bane.

Apocalypse Now and Blade Runner essentially have the same plot. Both films are about being given a mission to kill someone who in the end is actually right and makes you question everything you know. Bane is just a dark mirror to Batman. I see no revelatory scene where Bane explains the true nature of things to Bruce.

You would have to have actually seen Heat to see how it influenced TDK in more ways than just the bank robbery.

Which Black Sunday? 1977 or 1960? I'm assuming the 1960 one.

Mario Bava has inspired MANY filmmakers from Joe Dante to Tim Burton. Bava is very underrated as a filmmaker, but recently his films are starting to get the credit they deserve. Picked up both Bava sets from Anchor Bay not too long ago with the Blu-ray of A Bay of Blood (Twitch of the Death Nerve). Great films if anyone likes Giallo or any italian horror directors like Argento or Fulci.

Every time I see Bane, I think of Colonel Kurtz from Apocalypse Now. I think it would be interesting if Bane was inspired by him in a way.

I've mentioned that in just about every thread lol.

How is Bane at all like Kurtz? Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now are both about becoming demigod's to primitive natives and ruling with the madness of a fractured psyche.
