What got you into Batman?

i have liked batman forever, as per my baby book. when i was 2 i loved batman and spaghetti. not much has changed. as a little kid i didn't have much choice in what i watched, but apparently i was allways enthralled when the old superfriends cartoons were on and my parents bought me a bunch of batman toys and clothes.

what got me into batman, by my own choice, was reruns of the adam west series when i was about 8 or 9. i remember taking swim lessons (no clue why since i could swim just fine, i think my mom just didn't want to have to watch me for 1 hour a day in the summer) and when i got home, about noon, the west reruns were on, and it was either that or soaps during lunch, so i started watching batman. within a few days i found myself running home from swim lessons so as not to miss the first 5 minutes of the show.

ever since then i've been obsessed.

BTAS. More spesifically The Man Who Killed Batman. I remember playing that episode with my sister a lot. Even though I didn't understand the language. (I was too young to be able to read subtitles.)

I’ve also been a Batman fan as long as I can remember, but a big Batman-related part of my childhood was a VHS my mom brought home one day. It was a single episode of The New Scooby Doo Mysteries titled The Caped Crusader Caper where the gang meet Batman & Robin and rescue Professor Frinky from the Joker and Penguin. I can still quote practically the entire episode. Anyhow, the best part is that my nephew JoJo (Joseph, 3 ½) is really into superheroes right now, and I found the same episode on DVD at Wal-Mart for like 5 bucks. Needless to say, he’s watched it several times, and loves it.

Batman Returns got me into it. I actually started playing with BR toys when I was 2! Of course one toy I could never get was the Burton Batmobile. I skipped the sesame street phase and went right to Batman. My parents loved that I skipped a possible Barney phase. I still love BR and I finally got the Batmobile back in October.

I can't remember. the only thing i can remember that I was about 2 when i started shouting batman all around the house and went to pre-school In my sacred batman cape!

I remember it starting from the Batman '89, I loved Batman but I always thought it was little bit too scary. Same thing with Batman Returns. I also had some old Batman cartoon video. But then came Batman TAS which got me hooked and after that Batman Forever, which I loved mostly because of the action figures. I still have the Batman Forever Wayne Manor and the Batmobile. It also helped that my father is also a Batman fan from the Adam West days. He always told me about how he had Batman mask, toy batmobile and one of those red things that you can use to look at some pictures.

My mom got me into Batman, When I was 2 she brought me to see Batman 89 when it first hit theaters. :)

Ever since then I was hooked. I began to watch the Adam West Batman, my mom bought me the collection of Batman videos from 1940's (someone stole them.. arrrgh!) Was big into B:TAS. Then I started to read the comics & books when I was around 6 & I'm still here.

I guess it's Burton's movies. When I was 3, I got the Riddler, Two-face, and Batman action figures from Batman Forever. And of course, a Batmobile, which I rammed into the wall everyday (I was a very destructive kid). Then watched the 60's series on TV land, and TAS on Cartoon Network. I didn't really get into the comics until I was 10 or so, but now I'm obsessed.

No clue. I'm 25 and I've been into Batman longer than my memory goes back. My earliest memories involve owning Batman comics, having Batman toys that probably came from some Justice League/Super Friends line that I can't recall in detail, and watching reruns of Super Friends and the 1960's Batman show. Just to give you a timeframe, I was about 6 years old when Batman '89 came out.

An ad for a dutch Batman title, featuring a reprint of an 80's Batman origin story by Byrne and Aparo. Batman 89 did the rest of the pushing. My first bought comic was a reprint of Grant and Breyfogle's Detective Comics #608.

B:TAS. Whenever I think of Batman, that image of him on the ledge of the building with the lightening flashing at the end of the intro IS Batman. Then not too long after, B89. I love it to death. I can't express how much I do if I try.

My Mum says it started around the age of two, I guess that's when I got my first figure, never stopped since.

I remember the feeling of being so excited like it was yesterday. I was only 5 years old in 1989, but I can remember everything about it.

I was begging my dad to take me to see it opening night at the local drive-in theater when looking at the beautiful iconic gold bat symbol in the newspaper ad for opening night showings. He gave in and took me (probably cause I cried until he did hehe), I remember seeing the bat-symbol everywhere ( posters, cups, people wearing shirts) and I can still taste that fresh summer air, remember the dark mysterious sky, and the scent of movie popcorn flowing in the air. Unfortuneatly I actually ended up falling asleep three quarters of the way into the film, but it was actually worth it cause a week later my Dad took me to see it again at a regular theater, so I got to enjoy it on two mediums as opposed to just one.

It was probably one of the best feelings of my life, and one of my best memories ever. Alot of people laugh at me when I say that the film itself has made me who I am today, but I dont care what others say, it has made me who I am. Thats why I have a tattoo of the 89 chest logo on my arm, its there for me to always remember and cherish that time early on in my life, the love for the characters being truly amazed and what it meant to be, and eventually led me to branch out on being a huge batman fan, I have been ever since seeing that film.

Its crazy to be able to honestly say that this film has changed me as much as it did, after seeing the film I remember all of the sweet bat-merchandise I got for my birthday and christmas, all of the Toy Biz figures, accessories and playsets I had them, along with pretty much everything I could get my hands on ( posters, t-shirts, plus ther most random stuff. Its funny cause I still have alot of my stuff since then (check the DarkVengeance collection thread some of its still there) and I can remember the first Batman toy I had I got at an amusement park called Knobels in PA, it was the stuffed applause Keaton Batman (that looks nothing like Keaton, but I still have that sucker to this day).

Thinking about all these memories makes me love everything Batman even more, fanboy, nerd, fan whatever you may call me, all I know is I LOVE BATMAN!!

Batman '89 (5 years old). I remember going to the bathroom in the middle of the movie. It must have lefta big impression on me, because I had stolen my brother's batman costume and would run around the house in it. Then later, batman returns came out and I was crazy excited to see it. I wanted to be catwoman soo badly for Halloween. My dad gave me a few comics, but it was BTAS where I learned all of the batman characters and some of the stories.

I remained faithful to batman when Batman forever and batman and robin disgraced the world. I must admit that I was not impressed with Batman Begins, but with the Dark Knight virals, my love has turned into a full throttle obsession!

The powerful combo of The Comics, Burton movies and the animated series.

Batman Returns. It's the first movie I ever remember seeing, and it scared and excited the crap outta me :P

The 1986 Olympic Games.

My friend was reading various of comics he got me into it but I picked up Batman comics. I started to read Batman more than any other comics, it was summer 1995 that I became more fan when Forever was released then I started watch Burton ones and watched BTAS on Saturday mornings. My favourite Bat character was/is Two-Face cos everybody I knew loved The Joker and my favourite movie was BF at that time but as I got older I liked BTAS Two-Face more than I did with BF's Two-Face. I gave up during 1999/2002 years expecting a Batman movie to be released but as we know I don't need to tell you what happened during 2003 until now. What a joy it was thanks to WB & Nolan Co.

Funny, my parents were never into Batman other than being kids and watching Adam West. Yet there are pictures of me no older than a year old wearing Batman baby clothes. I was born the year BATMAN came out, but was three when The Animated Series and Batman Returns debuted. I grew up watching both of those. Every day I watched TAS when it aired and any opportunity to swap Disney VHS tapes with m beloved Returns VHS I jumped on. So somehow I have been a fan all of my life. When I was two I dressed as batman and my Mom made the costume, and I see pictures of Batman birthday cakes all the time.

It was definitely the Batman TAS cartoons that got me interested. That instilled the love, after that I just liked anything else Batman related because I liked the cartoon so much. That's still how it is. (I've gotten to where I really enjoy the comics and movies though).

As a little kid I was totally into Batman because of the 1966 Batman TV Show with Adam West & Burt Ward. Later I collected comic books & then in 1989 I totally went crazy when the Tim Burton movie came out. Since then I have been a pretty serious Batman toy collector. I now write a blog all about it called the Bat-Blog.
