What happens with the Thor movie?

I thought Vaughn was still going to direct but maybe not any longer. It looks like Marvel might be quietly looking for a replacement and DJ Caruso is one of the guys that they've spoken to. link
 
Interesting. This basically tells us Thor has no unannounced director. For a June 2010 movie, not good.
 
I just hope it's a director suited for Thor.

Blake dives down and swims into the inky darkness... He is drawn right to the Hammer and all at once transforms into the THOR ODINSON...NORSE GOD OF THUNDER. He battles Loki out over the water (frozen over after some frost giants get summoned)... In the end Thor is victorious, of course. A Hellicarrier shows up to greet this new arrival... A guy with a patch over his eye gets out and lays down the situation... credits roll.

Or somthing like that...

Nice to see a fellow Chicago area Thor fan in here, (I'm from the Mundlein/Libertyville area).
Well Rich having read the FIRST draft of the Script, Blake wasn't in the movie, and the way it's written there isn't a Need for Blake. (you'll love it)
Almost all of the script takes place in the Viking era, the last paragraph or so could have taken place in the present the way it read, but there have been two Rewrites since. One to make budget cuts, and one to more than likely to include Tony/Iron-man to ask Thor to join him in Avengers. THAT rewrite happened RIGHT after Iron-man's first weekend. I can't say for sure that's what they added, but I do have a feeling it is.

The Script was VERY Epic, very much like a Tales of Asgard story. Plenty of battle scenes, Characters, and myth in the script. NOBODY should have ANY trouble following the movie.

Nope Vaughn's been off Thor since Dec. Marvel didn't renew his contract.
 
Cant say much for DJ. Have to wait and see how Eagle Eye turns out, and Y if its still on his plate. I mean Disturbia was pretty cut and dry thriller, but I do think he has promise.
 
I'm a big fan of DJ and this would be an interesting new step for him.
 
I haven't seen Eagle Eye or Disturbia So I can't make any kind of judgement.

Don't know much about this guy other than Disturbia wasn't bad. I just hope he's really got love for Thor and isn't just giving everyone lip service. This fantasy/comicbook movie needs to be on point, makes me nervous that a movie of this scale can be given to someone who has no genre experience. Anyone remember Story?
 
The problem with Story was Fox had the last word. Thor's not under another studio, it's MARVEL, and from what we've see from Marvel this far I have ALOT of faith they'll do Thor justice.
Thor will ROCK with the right director.
 
I really thought they would have had a director in place for both Thor and Captain America for that matter. Vaughn left months ago and has since cowritten and started filming another movie in the mean time.
 
I hope they chose soon, Vaughn had his basic crew already for Thor, it was a BIG let down for me when he left.
I hope this starts to roll soon myself. If they chose an actor that'll need to get built up they need to start very soon. Pitt may be built but he's going to need more muscle for Thor's part, even in the 1st movie. Though from what we've seen in Ages Of Thunder (which is VERY close to the Script in many ways by the way) Thor isn't too extreme in build, so Pitt could work.
 
Vartha, thanks for all the info... So you have gotten a look at the script??? When you say the rewrite is in the Viking era... does that mean Earth during the Dark Ages??? Or Asgard, with the theme of the Viking Era???

Hopefully thor WONT get pushed back, as long as we have our director and actor signed before dec. Then a shooting schedule or april/may til aug/sep. sounds reasonable giving thor 7-8mths of post to stay on track with a june release date. Could u imagine the vikings making it to the superbowl with a THOR teaser movie trailer set to debut?.....lol

I hope they don't push it back. It would be awesome following IM2

I like that look in Wizard #205. I kind of don't want a cape. I think capeless makes it more epic with less cheese.
 
Just because you haven't heard anything doesn't mean things aren't in the works.

Also remember, Iron Man's cast wasn't announced till about 18 months before the movie; we're still about 20 months from Thor.
