What Is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Cooking With DC Thread (Black Adam)

My friend just said just have the Rock say "SHAZAM" and see who he becomes.

I honestly don't see him as Shazam. As ironic as it sounds, he just seems too cartoony for me....

Hercules kind of says other wise. At least when he is the main character. He seems to work best in ensembles

Idk why you would choose to only look at one movie and say that proves the Rock isn't a box office draw. It's like saying Cloud Atlas proves Tom Hanks isn't a box office draw.

No one is watching that movie for anything but the rock and its making 175 million

The rock for Shazam and Manu Bennet for black Adam

Good Call ! Although Manu's not as big as he looks on the screen (in real life) but I'm sure SFX could handle that.

But still, Manu would be a great Black Adam to the Rock's Shazam.

I would be fine with Manu Bennet staying at his own size. Superhero size is rarely a good indicator of his strength, especially if they are magically gifted. It would be a kind of neat contrast to Adam and Billy. Adam would essentially transform into simply a more powerful version of himself with little physical change, but Billy being a kid would be much more exaggerated size as The Rock

would the rock be in it that much if he was shazam? wouldnt mostly be about the kid cause its an origin story

We've all seen some bad recent pictures of Brendan Fraser, but in his recent movies he looks fine. IMO he's young looking enough to pull off Shazam. And he would be perfect.

When I think about the ideal Shazam movie, Brendan Fraser is Shazam and Dwayne Johnson is Black Adam. They're both very close in age and they've worked together in the past. It'd be perfect.

Dudes, I disagree (and of course will accept it if I'm proven wrong)
but there are 4 reasons that I can't see the Rock as Black Adam

1) I can't take the Rock seriously as a villain - especially a particularly
nasty villain (depending on which version you read), or a somewhat cerebral villain (again, the Rock, really ?) sure, he can be surly and a little
mean (like the Tooth Fairy movie) but a serious villian, no way.

2) I can't believe that Brendan Fraser, even with the power of Shazam,
could take down the Rock (especially with the same powers).
I couldn't believe it when Vin Diesel beat him in a fight in FF5, and that's Vin Diesel, Brendan Fraser, no way. It just wouldn't look convincing.

3) The Rock does somewhat goofy heroes well, and Captain Marvel is a goofy version of Superman.

4) The Rock wants to be a big name character, and while Black Adam is popular amongst comic fans nobody else has ever heard of him, and would probably think his name is mildly racist !

To be honest, I've always thought "Shazam" was the coolest catch-phrase ever, it just sounds cool (even when I say it, and I'm the least cool person in the mulitverse).

So there's IMO, but we'll see what happens. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, so be it.

Agreed

Well......magic. I would almost say there is less suspension of disbelief than the Vin fight since it is actually supposed to be sightly unbelievable.

I think this probably makes more sense to the studio. I think The Rock wants to be Adam, but the studio wants him to be Capt Marvel that way he is the actual franchise character

Do we really want another stand-off between Dwayne Johnson and Brendon Fraser?

I would not behind the choice of Fraser as Shazam. Nothing against him personally just not my choice in looks and acting.

Getting Brendan Fraser to be Shazam would be a clear sign that WB is trying to make a movie on the level of Elektra or Catwoman.

I still think Patrick Warburton would've been awesome as Shazam.

Perhaps if you want a performance that's not all that serious / good & to be reminded of Joe Swanson from FG for two hours.

If the Rock is Black Adam then I think Owain Yeoman from The Mentalist, Extant and Generation Kill would make a good Shazam.

Yeoman would have to hit the gym to bulk up a bit but that is standard almost every actor who plays a Superhero these days.
