What Is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Cooking With DC Thread (Black Adam)

I think that the Rock made the right choice. I prefer him for the role of Black Adam than Shazam. If he had been Shazam, I would always be thinking that he would've been much better as BA.

And it seems that he's gone with his heart and whom he really wants to play, which is good.

There could still be a better fit for Shazam, but the Rock was the first and last choice for Black Adam.

I always liked Asa Butterfield and I think he would be a great Billy.

I think he would be great too but hes gonna age out of the role once filming commence.

I second Chamber-Music's motion (this is a democracy isn't it?)

Seriously, though, this guy is a really talented Welsh actor. His biggest role was that of CBI Agent Rigsby in the CBS show The Mentalist where he pulled off a flawless American accent.

He`s six foot four and exudes a boyish charm, but can also pull off an intimidating presence when necessary (he also played a terminator in the pilot for the short-lived but excellent Sarah Connor Chronicles).

Definitely; Owain Yeoman for Shazam!

Nah not seeing it.

I know we probably won't get my vision of the character, but I want to see a truly terrifying Black Adam. I want to see the most powerful villain that we seen in a comic book movie. One that has Superman right under is poo Indonesia is a vicious villain.

Who were the past top choices for Superman and Batman? Captain Marvel yet again has that type of facial look.

Since most of you guys seem keen to just rehash the same old names of every actor who has ever been in a blockbuster (successful or not), I think I'll change it up.

Taylor Kinney
Bradley Cooper

oh heck no.

.... if they're gonna score Idris Elba for a superhero it better be GREEN LANTERN baby

I am all for Elba as John Stewart if he's able to get out of his Marvel contract.

I'm sure I'll catch a lot of flack for this, but I think Armie Hammer should get a chance. I bet they'll at least look at him for the role, since he was actually cast as Bruce Wayne/Batman a few years ago. This would be a good opportunity for him to have a breakout role.

Whoever they choose, I REALLY hope they choose wisely.

Brendan Fraser at 40 still looked pretty young with the right hair treatment and being in shape for "Journey to the Center of the Earth" so personality and potentially looks wise he could be a good Captain Marvel. Now the question is whether his current age of 45 is ok in terms of future films. It's ok for the the first couple movies, but if he's 50 playing the character it might be too old.

(40 here)

I think he could fit the part. "Mirror Mirror" which I was forced to watch (:D) had some decent light acting moments from him actually. I haven't seen him in a lot, but he was decent in the few things I saw.

He just posted this on his FB page

"Kneel before his feet or get crushed by his boot.."

This role has been years in the making. A true honor for me to become my favorite comic anti-hero of all time - BLACK ADAM.

Lets have some fun.

this casting is a bit uninspired. the rock's acting does not come across as natural - it seems very textbook and forced. affleck was inspired...as was cavill. but this, imho, is stunt/visual casting.

Funny enough, Channing Tatum as Captain Marvel wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

Between Foxcatcher, 21 Jump Street, and his recent string of films in general, he could pull it off.

I was kinda hoping Channing Tatum might be cast as Steve Trevor.

I thought he was pretty darn good in The Social Network.

Why doesn't he play Black Adam AND Captain Marvel?
After all the wizard creates Captain Marvel to right the wrong of Black Adam.

While that's an interesting concept - the magic transforms you into the same adult figure, it's what you are inside that makes the difference - it would be way too weird to have two Rocks fighting each other around.

Kids would love it, though. "Say SHAZAM and you turn into the Rock!"
