Sequels What is Fox's gameplan?

Well, it was hacked to pieces in the script stage, more accurately. It's not like this is a movie with a ton of finished footage that didn't make it in. It's more accurate to say the editing room was how to put everything together to make a movie out of a bunch of unfinished and rushed scenes.

But there actually is a lot of footage that didn't make it in.

The original (leaked) script with Galactus and a Doombot was much better, though still a bit too dark in tone, and would have been a preferable option. But the project had so much going against it.

Leaked script? I didn't know an original one leaked. And yeah, from the moment it was announced, it was like the entire world was against it.

However, I don't think a crossover with X-Men was ever intended, that was just marketing talk before release, so it at leasts exists as some separate thing. I don't sense Fox had any real commitment to the F4 as a new ongoing franchise, they even killed off Doom at the end (or that was how it looked to me, anyway).
I think if FF had been as successful as FOX had hoped, that Crossover idea would've changed from "We're thinking about it" to "Yeah, we're definitely doing it."

he just comes to bash.
If by "bash" you mean making reference to current events then you're spot on good man!

Fox has plenty of other hits this year to make up for FF.Kingsman and the martian for one.Peanuts has good shot at being a hit too.

And what Sony was planning is ilrelvent to this discussion.
So in defense to 4stic flopping and future planning for the Fox-MCU you bring up Kingsman, Martian and Peanuts? Yeah, you might wanna stick with that ignore list you so fond of mentioning.

Not to mention it was hacked to pieces in the editing room.
Yeah, there's no way Fox should be held accountable for any of that.

Anyone else think Fox maybe having a hard time finding an A or even B list director for Gambit because of the 4stic debacle on top of if they're still hoping for a 2016 release date?

I see people are still taking Starscream posts seriously lol.

It's obvious that they don't have a clear and long term plan like the MCU or even the DCU at least for the moment. It's also obvious however that they plan ahead much more so than they did a few years back. They already have four or five announced movies for the next couple of years if things go as planned, plus a couple of more in development and apparently two TV shows as well. Even if some of them get scrapped which is very likely, they're in a far more solid ground than Sony was when they announced all the sequels and spin-offs for the Amazing Spider-Man movies where we all know what happened.

That being said I like that they haven't given us 10 movies to look forward to in the future. When Apocalypse was announced it took a tiny bit of the excitement that I had for DOFP just because of the villain and the possibilities the next one seemed to have. I prefer studios to focus on one movie at a time and try to sell it to the audience as the only thing that matters at that time before trying to exceed themselves in the next one. I feel it takes part of the excitement for a movie when you know other cooler ones will follow before you even get to see the current one.

But there actually is a lot of footage that didn't make it in.

I said "finished" footage for a reason. For example, the scene with the Thing jumping out of the plane wasn't a finished scene. They had enough to include in the TV spots, but not the movie.

I would be surprised if GAMBIT is for 2016 ... Why would it be? What's the hurry about?
I know about F4 was because so they can keep the rights (and they totally epicly failed!!!), but what's the rush for Gambit? It would be a total catastrophe like F4 from all this rushing ...
And I agree, if it's wasn't Tatum in the role, I'm sure the movie wouldn't happen ...

They only did it to compete with Marvel and DC in the first place. Which is only proving they're in over their heads.

Fox should stick with 2 next and even with that amount the last time Fox released two Marvel films in one year was 10 years ago with Elektra and Story's F4....

Best guess would be that Gambit would move to 2017 but what does the rest Tatum's schedule look like beyond this and is it even that flexible?

He's producing only. His acting roles are all in post-production. Gambit is his only acting role. Everything else he's on as a producer.

Tatum wants to play Gambit.Even if a director signs on shortly i don't see gambit coming out earlier than fall 2017 due to fox placing Kingsmen sequel In june 2017 spot and war of the planet of the apes coming In july 2017.If deadpool and wolverine do well in early year spots i wouldn't be surprised if gambit is held over to february/march 2018.

Them not announcing a slate of movies and disclosing plans to the public years in advance isn't 'wrong'

They'll do what 95% of Hollywood does. Make movies then announce sequels if they're profitable.

They've been pretty open about their plans.
APOCALYPSE
DEADPOOL
GAMBIT
They've got X-FORCE and New X-Men films in development.
There will likely be another regular X-Men franchise with the more classic characters.

to make money off X-Men films and do X-Men cinematic universe

in 2016 we have deadpool and Apocalypse

they are producing pilots for Legion and Hellfire

In 2017 we likely get both new wolverine solo film and Gambit

The new Mutants remains in active devolpment

we have 5 films In the works along with 2 poential tv shows.

Add to that more poential full X-Men films.if deadpool is a hit it will get a sequel. If gambit hits it will get sequel.they in past have talked about x-force but no movement on it since 2013

They should have the Xmen lose to Apocalypse,. and have the xmen dealing with the aftermath inthe sequels

This is probably the longest running movie franchise with the most amount of movie spin-offs. Its crazy to think how it all started with a trilogy, then the Wolverine solo and so on and so on!

Not if they do it right. Age of Apocalypse done on screen

I believe we are probably getting elements of age of apocalypse in this movie so i don't think we will get a proper adaption anyway

IM sure we will. I just figured it would be interesting in seeing a superhero franchise take the unconventional route,. instead of the heroes always triumph route.

Seeing as they are using elements for this film i doubt they will repeat it again but there ya go

Once Hugh Jackman is done, they will just reboot in the MCU. Without Wolverine they won't thrive

Don't speak like you have the facts. Didn't you say your most anticipated X-Men film is the X-Men movie made by Marvel Studios.

If you are here to annoy people then mission accomplished.

What I'm saying is true, Foxs comic book movie days away from the MCU are definitely numbered. There will be a few more movies until they finally give in but that day will come

Wolverine drives that entire universe. X force and New Mutants? They're scraping the bottom of the barrel at this point and it'll only be more apparent once Wolvie is gone. It's so wrong that they aren't allowed to be in the MCU, just wrong. They don't have to constantly interact but they are supposed to be in the same universe.

The tone can be maintained so long as Fox produces the solo films stil, it can be the same setup as the Sony deal

Without the MCU, we will never get to see the X Men we actually want to see. Comic book accurate costumes will never happen otherwise

The universe is ready for a true reboot as wel, this timeline is truly horrible and convoluted, it is time to restart. For sure

Deadpool acknowledges the fact that he is a comic book/movie character so he can be included in the rebooted universe with no problems, just have some throwaway meta lines about the reboot

There is only this much resistance because the X Men are underdogs on an island away from the MCU, people are going to be defensive. If the films continue with the same quality, there is no problem. Fact is, they're running on borrowed time, the timeline is **** and things would be so clean if they just incorporated the XMEN into the MCU, I think it's the best course of action

There's no reason they can't have a dark tone for the X Men in the MCU. A tone like TWS would be plenty dark for the X Men
