What is with the significant rise in school shootings in the past two or three years?

I know someone who's really into this. She's researched all the school shootings for the past century- maybe longer (I remember her speaing about a massacre at a Mexico school in the mid-1800s.). She almost seems to look up to these people. She has a plan for how she'd do her own and how she'd escape one. People my age are way too unstable. It's disgusting.

and you didn't tell anyone about your friend?

Modern Youth, soft, pampered, emotional, dysfunctional. Rights without responsibilities. A sad world!

I used to think about shooting up my high school when I was a teenager, it's not something I'm proud of. But it was something I thought about.

Many of these guys are depressed loners or outcasts who are prone to be suicidal thinking that their life is meaningless. This leads to them being angry that they were made to feel this way by those who've tormented them and see it as their duty to get revenge. Rather than commit suicide, they take others out with them- sometimes it gets out of hand, sometimes it doesn't. Columbine for example, from research, was not meant to be as random as it was; they did have a 'hit list' in their diaries.

Start seeing yourself, in a twisted way, as a martyr. Take out those who have made your life hell and may make other lives hell. As Dylan stated, "they are just testing my trigger finger."

I'm not proud that I did use to think this way, but I do understand where these high school shooters are coming from because I was sadly on the edge of becoming one myself years ago.

I wrote an episode for a virtual series I work for that I will posting some time later tonight with commentary and all in the 'fan fiction' section of the hype. Might put a little more insight into this whole thing.

It's sad and scary that it happens, but from my eyes in most high school shootings everyone's a victim because they are- more or less- suicide pacts.

See the thing is though, how many of these people actually punish their tormentors, how many of the people killed at Columbine were the one's who picked on those psychos? Virgina Tech and NIU, I doubt those psychos killed anyone that "forced" them into that situation. Everyone in life has hardships, I was picked on a lot for the horrible shortcoming of being short and skinny in Jr. High and High School, never had one thought about shooting up the school, not even if I knew I'd be able to hit one or all of my tormentors. I took care of it like a man and stood up to them or if that didn't work played a prank on them, you don't look cool spending half the day with a chocolate milk stain down the back of your shirt.

Too many nutjobs with guns who should be in a secure psychiatric institute getting treatment instead of being in the general public being palmed off with unsuccessful drugs by doctors.

Damn, Damn, Damn! ( Sorry mods, but I had to let some steam.)

How can this happen? What's wrong with the world nowadays, when these psychopaths start shooting people in a school. In a #¤%ing school! I mean, a year ago, we thought that Finland was free of all this madness that's destroying the world. Then, month before christmas, some murderer start destroying innocent lives. Without any reason!!! Then some other guy decides to copy these murders. When the third is going to happen! What makes a man to do anything like that. I'm usually very positive guy, but today, I see twistedness in the world that I haven't seen before. Please God, don't let this happen again.

I looked on the news and there was a shooting at Univeristy of Arkansas and that just made me think. What is with the recent rise in school shootings for the past two to three years? Look at how many shootings at schools there have been this year, last year, and the year before that. The numbers are rising significantly!

Copycats and the piss poor psychiatric care they receive.

Interesting, my Mom takes classes at a local Community College and she said yesterday some guy threatened to kill students (he had a gun on him too), pretty scary.

Just out of curiosity what really indicates a signficant rise in school shootings/violence within the past two or three years? Just because there's more media coverage does not mean that there's more events.

I hate these guys. They should just kill themselves if they have a problem. Why massacre loads of people just because you don't fit in? I think its just them being spoilt. " oh no i have no friends, no one likes me!! I think i better go on a shooting spree!" Its pathetic. If you have a problem with certain individuals you go and tell them, maybe even offer them out for a fight. You don't go and shoot them, thats just cowerdly.

I remember when i first joined high-school i didn't have that many friends, only the ones from my old school really. It didn't bother me though i just always stayed true to myself, i wernt fussed if i was in the "popular" crowd. But as the years progressed i gained loads of friends and i became a bit of a legend in my whole school due to the fact that i was just a friendly down to earth person who liked to have a laugh and take the piss out of teachers. None of this was a act, it was the real me.

So todays lesson kids, always act like your true self. If people don't like it, well who cares?!!?!?!
