What Kinda Wrestling Thread You Runnin' Here? - Part 193

I'm not saying I like it, but I think their new formula is to troll us at the rumble, switch the course in February and pay it off at Mania. That keeps the internet geeks like us hate watching the whole way

And pretty much destroy the Rumble's credibility and purpose in the process.

What is this? NJPW World has uploaded the Bob Backlund/Stan Hansen WWF Title match from 1980? :awesome:

When you really think about it, it's kind of a miracle that they even had Daniel Bryan inserted into the main event for last year's Wrestlemania, let alone having him win it given on how we've just seen how bad Vince's absurdity and stubbornness can be.

See you at Fastlane.

It'd be good for the title, at least. Some actual prestige instead of a prop.

I just think that having Reigns take down Rusev at this year's WM would have been a more organic way to build him up. It would have made him more legit for next year's.

It all really sucks because the guy isn't bad at all and is gonna get **** on in a way that he doesn't deserve. It's not his fault. It's not like you say no to a push.

It was an anomaly.

Remember when Rey Mysterio got booed at last year's RR, due to being a victim of circumstances? He never really fully recovered from it, because people STILL kept on booing him months later until he became inactive.

My point is these wrestlers are getting indirectly punished, due to the whims of a 69 year old man who's clearly out of touch.

the highlight:

AMEN!!!! I freaked when he came back! And at my lucky number, #3!!!! I hated how he got eliminated so soon.

This was my first Royal Rumble. And I came in knowing that either Daniel Bryan or Roman Reigns would win. I figured that it would be Bryan vs. Daniel for the final elimination, instead? Bryan gets knocked out early. Big Show and Kane eliminate the remaining fan favorites (including Bray Wyatt), Rusev's "reveal" is given nothing as Reigns eliminates him too easily, and they through the Rock in to help put Reigns over.

Really?

Don't get me wrong, I like Roman Reigns, but WWE had a chance to make things right and have DB win, but they didn't. They essentially did a "oh, you want Bryan to win? Well then!...we'll eliminate him early!" That was just mean.

Times like these is when a network like Spiketv (or a major one like Fox Sports) should swoop in and buy tv rights to a FAR better managed organization like NJPW.

Haha I can't believe I paid a subscription to the Network tonight. First time I've paid for a WWE product in quite some time. I'm cancelling ASAP.

Damn it is just wild how out of touch WWE/Vince is.

Now I know what Punk meant when he said that they can never take Bryan's Wrestlemania moment away from him.

Reign wasn't my preference either. But some people having a "DB or nobody" mentality going into this was a little absurd too.

DB, Ziggler, or Ambrose would have been fine with me.

So it looks like NXT has a new trainer in Bubba Ray Dudley

To me, it's not so much that Reigns won but how Vince treated the wrestlers, and now they're suffering for it. It was poorly booked.

Out of the three finalists, Reigns was the lesser of three evils.

I HATED the way Ziggler and Ambrose were thrown out like trash.

Daniel Bryan hasn't gotten his rematch from being stripped of the title last year. **** it, make it a Triple Threat again. I can't see Lesnar and Reigns putting on a decent match, nevermind a Wrestlemania main event.

Nah, it's because they haven't reached up for them brass rings.:o:oldrazz:

It's kind of funny on how things have changed so much from last year's RR.

If I'm not mistaken, people were actually cheering for Reigns when he was like in the final slot against Batista, because people were willing to take anyone else other than Batista in last year's rumble.

Now, look at how things have turned out for Reigns in this year's main event.

So did Orton hurt himself when he wrestled in the live events a few weeks ago?

I say have Rollins cash in on Lesnar before then. I know Brock's reign should logically end on the big stage at WM. But at this point Rollins/Reigns is just the better match.

Ziggler and Ambrose were buried the way they were eliminated. Treated like gutter trash.

I think that's what makes this year even worse than when Batista won. Batista was coming back for a farewell tour. Reigns is supposed to be the man of tomorrow. You don't do this to him. You give him his KOTR moment like Stone Cold then build him up progressively. You don't rush him to the front with the crowd hating him. You invest in him by building him.

This is gonna be like last year without someone quitting forcing them to change plans.Unless Justin Gabriel was that person and he walked out too early.

In a twist, this wasn't a Vince decision.

Vince was reluctant to go forward with Reigns winning the Rumble. Meanwhile, Good 'Ole Hunter was gung-ho about pushing Reigns.

I don't think anyone, here especially, hates Reigns, they just hate the position he's been put into. But unfortunately, the only way anyone can really voice their displeasure is to boo him at the shows like what happened. There's no real other way for fans to get their voices out there. Yes, there is social media, but how much do they listen to it? We get polls that are worded in such a way to skew results, and tweets and message boards are just dismissed as internet smarks. There's hardly any other way for fans to get what they want heard in a way that the execs will even listen to.
