Smackdown:

Daniel Bryan came out and he has a surprise. Erick Rowan, Ryback and Dolph Ziggler are back. It was announced by the non-McMahon version of The Authority that in order for them to get into The Royal Rumble, they have to win their matches tonight.

In the first match, Dolph Ziggler did what many others have and beat Bad News Barrett in a non-Title match. He is in the Rumble.

Renee Young interviewed Roman Reigns. There was no Sufferin' Succotash.

Ryback beat Rusev by countout, so he is in the Rumble too.

Brie Bella beat Naomi.

Luke Harper beat Erick Rowan, so he is not in the Rumble.

They did a promo with Miz and Mizdow. They are in the Rumble but they are not getting along.

In the main event, Kane took on Daniel Bryan in a No DQ match. Bryan won. Then the heels attacked Bryan which led to the babyfaces making the save.

So according to DDP, Scott Hall is prepping himself for the possibility of taking Kevin Dunn's job in the future. According to a lot of people including DDP, Hall has a great mind for the business and if that's the case then I can't wait till he takes Dunn's job.

Nobody at this point can be worse than Kevin Dunn in that spot unles their names are Dixie Carter, Vince Russo, or Jim Herd IMO.

Though I'm sure HHH will be saving that possibility up for when Vince is retired or dead. He's probably got a pink slip for Dunn in his office somewhere for when that day comes. It'll be in record breaking time too.

I agree Punk could have done it, I just question his desire to play the political corporate game. Granted, Austin isn't the stereotypical corporate spokesman, but it seemed like he was all-in with the WWF, especially after the way he was dismissed by WCW. I'm not sure Punk was ever really "all-in."

The Batman actually said what I was going to, I think if WWE had gone all in with Punk and really gave him the full works push, he'd have responded to that favourably. How he was booked as the #2 guy soured him and thus the attitude from him was unfiltered.

Hall has been on Cabana and Austin's podcast and he does seem to have a good mind for the business.

Random Question:

How do guys like Matt Striker and John Morrison get to keep their ring names outside of the WWE? Is it if they leave on good terms and make a deal, then it's okay?

I know that MVP was on Cabana, or another podcast, and said he made a deal with the WWE to keep his ring name for other promotions, but I thought that was an exception to the rule.

John Morrison is actually Johnny Mundo now and before that he was using his real name on the indies. Not sure how Striker kept his name though.

One of my favorite stories is how Hall went against the bookers and put Jericho over on Nitro cause he knew that would get a reaction.

Huh, what? Kevin Dunn is a television producer that has been with the company nearly as long as Vince has. Scott Hall probably knows jack squat about how to produce a TV show. If they were ever to replace Dunn, you do it with someone with actual experience.

The problem with Dunn isn't his television producing, it's his involvement in booking decisions. Someone needs to tell him to stick to the TV stuff and keep his opinions to himself when it comes to who should be getting pushed or not.

Yeah, this. I know Scott Hall is an industry veteran, and he's overcome a lot in his life, but he's in way over his head to even think of taking over Dunn's position. If industry knowledge was all it takes to be the producer, you'd also have a huge lineup of other guys even more qualified for that role (Heyman, Hayes, Dusty, Laurinaitis, Steamboat, just off the top of my head).

I have a feeling that Scott Hall is prepping for a producer role as in a road agent. The terms road agent and producer are seemingly interchangeable in the business. I'm not sure why DDP mentioned Dunn's name in particular. Dunn is a TV guy that was the driving force behind creating The Slammys, SNME and RAW. That's not an ex-wrestler type of role. That's a job you give to someone with a broadcasting degree.

Triple H is already using Road Dogg as a producer/road agent. There were reports a while back that Dogg was getting a lot of praise for some of his ideas. HHH is probably looking to give Hall a shot at that type of job. Most of the current WWE road agents are real old school guys like Hayes, Patterson and Arn Anderson. There might be a disconnect between the current roster and those guys from a few generations ago. Injecting guys from a more recent time is probably a good idea in an ever changing business.

it must be really sore to some people that when it comes to punk he's happy, home and with aj. well shawn can explain it best

Vince will no doubt put it in his will that Dunn can't be fired.

Really? His segment last night just about cinched it. :word:

Blee Dat.

There are several things to criticize Reigns for right now, but his pronunciation of "believe that" is not one of them. It's like people have to make up something to make fun of him for, so I see "blee dat"/"buhlee dat" posts around the internet.

With all the things to actually complain about, that's not one of them. The guy says "believe that." Every time. Just like Austin said "and that's the bottom line..." and Rock said "if you smell..." pretty much every time.

Sounds like a pretty good, basic show, as opposed to a promo-heavy mess we get lots of the time on Monday.

Agreed. He very clearly says Believe that. The guy isn't ready just yet but he WILL be a WWE champion. To me it also seems they just might be going the Reigns vs Rusev at Mania route. Which I approve of.

I'm not sure what I'd do right now other then

Bryan vs Brock
Reigns vs Rusev
Sting vs Triple H
Rollins vs One of Orton, Ziggler or Ambrose.

Truth

We all have to admit, this thread is going to be going bonkers on Sunday if the last 2 guys in the Rumble are Reigns and Bryan. :woo:

Personally, I'd do:

Brock vs Reigns
Cena vs Bryan
Sting vs Triple H
Barrett vs Rusev
Seth Rollins vs Ambrose vs Ziggler.

Have Rollins win this Sunday, and drop the title at the next PPV. Have him then cash in to the 'Mania main event, against Ambrose and Ziggler (the Royal Rumble winner).

That's why it is my hope (as a Reigns mark) that he and Rusev eliminate each other and brawl all the way to the back. Hell Lana could even assist with elimination.

Come 32 though, if he continues to progress and they let him use his natural personality instead of Cena 2.0 like they did with Sheamus, I'm all for the Roman Empire

What would you do with Orton?

I'd rank the Bryan/Cena Summerslam match a heck of a lot higher than that.
