What Kinda Wrestling Thread You Runnin' Here?

How? Getting destroyed by old men. They should of destroyed one of the other tag teams.
Most dominant Tag Team in NXT history got given a poor man's Road Warriors gimmick in 2015 and then fed to a bunch of old dudes.

Staying in NXT seems like a good idea.
Cameron, David Otunga (still on the payroll), Byron Saxton, Eden, Sasha Banks, Jason Jordan from NXT, Uhaa Nation (on his way to NXT after he finishes his indie commitments), arguably Layla...I think that's it. Agreed... this must be the largest number of people of African descent that Vince has employed (on screen).

Layla is Spanish and Moroccan.

Jojo, CJ Parker and Angelo Dawkins from NXT are a few you left out.

F*** me.

Your list is sound, but the problem with someone achieving those objectives means that they'd get sabotaged if they got too close. Punk blew up big, and apparently he outsold Cena since the Pipe Bomb promo up until they made him turn heel to drop the title to The Rock. While he doesn't have Cena's cleat cut look he probably would have been a good spokesperson for WWE because the guy is straight edge. The drug use and steroid abuse that has led to many premature pro wrestler deaths has been a big black eye on wrestling for a while, and having a well spoken guy like CM Punk that is straight edge could have worked wonders for them. The guy has the ability to connect to the crowd in a way that WWE sorely needed, but they screwed it up because they want to keep Cena at the top at all costs to try and make the fans love the guy the way Vince does. Imaginary brass rings indeed.

Punk's certainly well-spoken enough to have been "The Face Of WWE," but I don't think he would have had much interest. Punk himself will tell you he's a miserable guy. Dude's a rebel who wants to live life on his own terms and march to the beat of his own drum. He just doesn't come across as the type who'd be interested in being WWE's corporate spokesman like Hogan, the Rock and Cena. I can't see Punk sitting there on set with Kelly & Michael yucking it up and waxing poetic about how great WWE is, even before he fell out with management. He just doesn't strike me as that dude.

I understand the mindset of building the future, but we had The Wolfpack, The APA, AND The New Age Outlaws in the same ring at the same time! I was marking out, bro!

Ascension vs NAO announced for Royal Rumble. Ascension will probably beat them as bad as The Shield did at WM to get a little bit of heat back.

I thought The Ascension thing was pretty dumb (Although it was awesome having all those legends in the ring) but I think it could be rectified if they destroy the NAO on Sunday. And JBL. I'd really like to see JBL get a beatdown.

It was surreal seeing him be a babyface again.

I see what you mean, but Austin did it and he's every bit as ornery as Punk. I think WWE never even tried with Punk, but who knows for sure if it would work, I certainly think he'd have a harder time being as nice about WWE as you need to be. Bryan can do all of these things, he's likable, he can do an interview and be personable and friendly, his only negative for WWE is his look, which is more on them than him IMO, they are a dated organization in every way despite the ****ing out of their social media stuff.

I agree Punk could have done it, I just question his desire to play the political corporate game. Granted, Austin isn't the stereotypical corporate spokesman, but it seemed like he was all-in with the WWF, especially after the way he was dismissed by WCW. I'm not sure Punk was ever really "all-in."

Austin has an entire second-family to support; he probably couldn't have afforded to walk away from wrestling even if he wanted to. Punk doesn't appear to have many financial obligations (no ex-wife, no kids via ring rats, no drug dealers to pay off, he doesn't tool around in a new expensive car every month) so he can afford to take a "meh" attitude to the business even during his prime.

I think with Punk to go all in you'd have to basically challenge him. I figure he's the type of guy that wants to be the best at everything, and if you doubt his ability he'd go even harder to push it back in your face. The WWE could have used that to their advantage. They could have positively told him that he has the opportunity to be greater than any star if he hunkers down and play some parts of the game that might not sound so fun on the surface. Sounded to me like he'd be fine with that if he got some rest when he was banged up instead of having to grind on the road so much when he's got concussions. Seems like that really killed his desire more than anything. I think that they could have given him an injury break to do some talk shows at that point. The dude is gold on the mic in any form, and could have served them well in that role had they let him. Just look at his UFC Q&A. lol

So it's possible Bryan has a strong cast of supporting players tonight with Sheamus's return possibly pending, Ziggler and Ryback now "reinstated"and the obligatory talents Ambrose, Rollins, and Reigns.

Punk wanted to be a top guy. He wanted to be a locker room leader and set an example for the boys in the back. and he actually wanted to see WWE become a better company. If he had a "I dont give a ****" attitude, it was because Vince and the machine never supported him 100% and never respected him like they did Cena and the part timers, even though Punk was just as over as they were. In his mind, he never got back what he gave in, and he became disillusioned as a result.

If WWE actually respected Punk and gave him what he actually wanted, he would've definitely been "All in", if only to prove that he could do anything they asked of him.
