The tone of The Incredible Hulk should be dark and serious, as well as fun and relatively fast-paced. This should be the most intense Marvel movie to date. We've got a man on the run, with everything at stake. He's up against staggeringly unfavorable odds. Very powerful people want him dead, or enslaved. New York City and all of its residents face an impending catastrophe. And (hopefully!) he's at war with, and dependent on, the BEAST within himself. There's always room for humor, as long as it doesn't clash with the driving intensity that this story will require in order to reach its full potential.

What, tremendous box office success? (especially SM3) The first Hulk film was dark, and is considered a box office failure.

They need to tone down the dark aspects a bit and play up the superheroic adventurous angle this time around.

I agree, I think the action scenes need to have a more adventurous heroic spin. Not too fast paced either. Could anyone keep up with what was going on in the SM3 alley chase? It was so blury at times that you couldn't see what was happening...

It can't be too light though either, definitely needs symetry. The Darker parts should be transformations leading into heroic action shots with plenty of explosive smashes! Throw in a few comedic one-liners from possibly a Rick Jones type and there you go!

I'm starting to hate the word dark.

I think that movie should be fairly serious but it wouldn't hurt to have a sense of humor about a very silly impossible concept, it's about a man turning into a big green monster for goodness sake! It shouldn't be batman and robin but it also shouldn't be treated like it's the most serious thing in the world because frankly, it isn't.

light/dark mix with comedy. Sorta like the Die Hard films, but Banner's not the type of character to pull off one liners like "Yippee ki yah motha ****a"

No, but theres other characters in the movie that could pull it off. Rick Jones could be added for comic relief. Every comic movie should have some comedy. Even BB had comic releif. I don't care what anyone says, Bruce Banner isn't half as dark or dramatic as Bruce Wayne.

Dark and scary.

'Mixture' sounds a great idea but in Hollywood that means cheese and crappy one-liners in between just for the sake of it.

Whatever the tone, it's going to be hard to get a lot of people to see another HULK film. They better keep the budget damn low, or it's gonna bury Marvel's effort at handling their own films, I also fear for IronMan, as well. This movie is going to be a hard sell after the first one, people didn't seem to buy into a serious flick about a giant green guy. These big budgets are killers. Good luck.

i remember how i was so excited for spiderman3, all the hype, all the potential, only to be let down.

i really want TIH to do well. i really do.

I really dont want this to be anything like Ang's Hulk. It needs to have its own style but with dark tones. I like that banner is traveling in this movie. A guy like banner cant stay in one place too long.

Well its all about the premise. something so simple can be box office gold. Ang tried too hard to be different in his take. The movie needs interesting characters to go along with the Hulk. Angs Hulk had flat characters, the only great thing about the movie was the Hulk........and he was limited.

You shouldnt be so negative. You and all posting here will go and see it. After every sees the new trailer, you will pee your pants. Iron man will rock as the Transformers did. I have seen the trailer and all I can say is WOW! Visionaries are optimistic, maybe you should consider a name change, lol.
