What The Hell Happened To Christianity?

Maybe not to you......
And let's face it. The Bakker family ARE not exactly the spokes persons on what Christians should be doing. But I guess that's why you guys liked the article.

THIS THREAD NEEDS TO BE CLOSED! IT'S NOT FAIR!!
So they shouldn't be more peaceful and tolerant? Like, y'know, Jesus?

Agreed,

As a Muslim, Jesus is a highly revered and beloved person and a man whose character should be emulated by all of humanity regardless of religious beliefs.

Jesus said that he was the only way to heaven....not through Muhammad or Allah.

This thread should be closed!

Jesus wasn't only about God. He was also about humanity, and what it means to be a caring, considerate individual.

I see absolutely zero reasons for this thread to be closed other than you just don't like it and aren't open to anyone elses beliefs. Guess what? If you don't like it, you don't have to read it. :meow:

Jesus wasn't tolerant. He didn't accept all beliefs. He was even at odds with the religious leaders in his own people.

He had a very narrow view of salvation. He said it was only through Him. Then 500 years later Muhammad comes along and says no....it's throught another belief system?

Dude, MS, threads criticizing Islam pop up like prairie dogs here. The skies won't turn to blood if this thread is open.

How about you try explaining rationally and simpily why you think the thread should be closed.

Personally, I can't find anything offensive about the article. What don't you like about the article? Or is it just the title you don't like?

Exactly. He was a pretty cool guy, I think.

Who said that The Bakkers are the spokesperson for Christians?

However, since this is America, freedom of speech gives him the right to express him opinions and the privlege of his celebrity parents gives him the soapbox for all to hear.

I am very confused though on your repeated calls for this thread to be closed and what exactly isn't fair?

If anything you should be campaigning to get the "You can't make a hoe a housewife" and the "Hitler Rap" threads closed.

...except for when he said that he is God, and when he said that to truly follow him, you must forsake and hate your mother and father (which is oddly in direct contradiction with his own commandments), and when he broke God's law by working on the Sabbath, etc. etc. :o

That's why he died on that cross. You think he'd do all of that just so someone else can come along 500 years later and void it?? No.

Maybe he doesn't like the fact that a muslim dude (Raybia) posted an article about Christianity which advises people to become more like Christ..

There's a difference between being intolerant and disagreeing. From what I can tell, he wasn't a jerk about it. He didn't even get aggressive enough about it to fight back when they killed him for his beliefs. If Jesus heard views he didn't accept personally, I'm pretty sure he didn't cover his ears shouting "SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UP! IT'S NOT FAIR! CLOSE THIS THREAD!"

We're asking you to discuss it (or ignore it), not to personally accept it.

And by Islamic law that is forbidden.....it is Shirk to declare one's self as God.

Your viepoints and beliefs are not the only ones on the planet. There are others who believe in a different religious theology or even a different God! Heck, some of us don't even believe in a God at all! No one is right. No one is wrong. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and the right to express them. It's one of the great things about this country.

That's why I don't understand how so many can say "He was cool", but they're not Christians....the "He was a great teacher" - crowd.

The Christians are right when they say, "He was either a mad man, a liar, or God", there are no other options.

except, maybe, "the Bible is inaccurate" or "He was a trickster/performance artist". *shrug*

Like I said, Jesus' character is such that it is a model even for Muslims.

This other stuff is subject to interpretation and belief.

Rationally and simpily explain why you want the thread closed.

I would say that is correct, however Islam doesn't teach that Jesus declared himself as G-d.

No it's because the dudes in the article have warped view of what Christians should be doing. As if Christians have to accept everything....never question anything....accept all lifestyles no matter how deviant.

That's not what Jesus taught. Even with the woman caught in adultery...He told her to go and "sin" no more. He called what she did a sin. He judged her behavior. He didn't tolerate it.

He chastised the woman at the well for lliving wtih 5 different men. He didn't "tolerate" it. That didn't mean he didn't love them.

the world has a truly distorted view of Jesus. Everything was just groovy with Him.

So who is right Raybia??? You because you say so?? The Bible or the Koran. They can't both be right.

Again, why do you want the thread closed?

Answer me this. Yes or no. Jesus didn't want that crowd to stone that woman and hate her and judge her. He wanted the crowd to leave her be. That's why so many Christians these days are hypocrites. They try to force their view on others instead of doing what Christ did and actually being friends with the deviants.

Maybe they both have some stuff right and some stuff wrong.
