Homecoming What to do with Spider-Man... AGAIN?!?!?!

1. No origin in the first movie, take lessons from 'Netflix's Daredevil' and spread the origin in flashbacks in the span of 2-3 movies, Uncle Ben can have a prominent role throughout like Battlin' Jack Murdock in the first 3 episodes

2. Less romance, especially in the first movie, show his crush on Gwen/MJ and maybe 1-2 awkward conversations but that's about it

3.Oscorp should not be the big bad coorperation with chucks out everything bad from processed food to weaponry to supervillains

4.Make Norman Osborn an interesting personality who has a background major role and a strong influence on Peter, like something in Raimi's first movie or TSSM cartoon, the Goblin should only appear in 3rd or 4th movie

5. Highlight the scientist part of Peter's personality, make him inovative

6. Quips but not a scumbag/bully (like TASM1)

7. Give a strong role to Harry Osborn, like Foggy Nelson in 'Daredevil'

8. Focus on the highschool and teenage years

Agree with most points but I do think Oscorp should be a big presence even if that presence is inferred rather than shown.

Oh and for God's sake no more stupid coincidences, so far the villains have been, 3 mentors of Peter Parker (Including the father of his best friend), his best friend on two occasions, the guy who killed in Uncle, and his rival photographer

Make the Villain unknown to Peter Parker for once, like Kraven or Mysterio

In keeping with the idea of lessening coincidences , don't have all the villains come from Oscorp and/or have them being hired by Norman or Harry as in ASM series. Also try to have a villain who isn't really just a misunderstood good guy who'd rather give Spiderman a hug, then be his enemy.

Give us a truly menacing and threatening interpretation of his villains in the vain of Ultron, Loki, Red Skull, Alexander Pierce, and Winter Solider. The villain can be complex, but complexity doesn't always have to mean sympathetic or kind at heart.

I don't want him to be an avenger alreafy. I do like idea use voice over stuff to play on the word bubbles of the comics.

As for romance I do it like I mentioned back a page. Have peter have a crush on Liz or betty. But they shoot him down go tssm and have gwen have hots for pete but he doesn't see it right away. Then mj comes in and I really like to do the classic meet uo. And then peter gets infatuated with mj. But she doesn't want to be tied down yet ie the party girl.

Then peter finally sees gwen and they have a little thing with each other. Then once we get to collage days bring in Felicia and Debra. Debra as a friend that doesn't get romantic eith. Flirtation with Felicia. Then in collage days pete and mj finally grow into a romance. And then have there ups and downs.

And here is where you can get relationships with felicia/maybe carlie cooper and the like. But then have him ultimately end up with mj.

LOL bad examples, Ultron and Red skull were extremely underwhelming

I want something in the vein on Raimi's GG and DocOck, and every TSSM villain should be a model for its movie version

I definitely think the standalone movie needs to work on new innovative ways of showing Spider-Man's powers. You really want the general audience to feel this is new and fresh.

The Spider sense.

The wall crawling.

The web swinging.

The Spider Agility.

The Spider Strength.

Really push what you can do. Really sell the idea that his kid has the powers of a spider.

New wire rigs that allows the stunt guy to fight people while jumping on the ceiling and wall.

Titled stages.

Practical swinging.

Make it look REAL.
I like this. All real good pointers. It's what I was trying to say before. There's been 13-14 years of Spider-Man movies and the audience without a doubt knows what he can do. But if you can invent new, much cooler ways to show/tell Spider-Man, I think that'd be ideal.

I remember being blown away by the Matrix. I couldn't work out how they did the wall jumping. Would be awesome to have that level mystery at how Spider-Man's powers are achieved rather than the bog standard CGI character.

Absolutely. We got a small hint of that with the practical web swinging in TASM. If you could take that, maybe shoot it differently, maybe more "violent" angles--I think overall what we're trying to say is that the key must be to inject new, fresh, inventive ways on showcasing the character, making it fun, and leaving you in awe.

I think that, while it may be hard to achieve, less things should be completely CGI. Or at least it needs to be better CGI. I think Hulk is a character whose CGI looks great, or Iron Man. I'd honestly say the same about Lizard except for his movement. But in many scenes in SONY's films things look too computerized. I know that it's hard to avoid that with Spider-Man, but still. It's something that takes you out of the films slightly. I want Spider-Man to be less Hobbit and more LOTR.

Granted, I didn't read every post on here, but the first thing they need to do is get Jameson and the Bugle back.

Physically, of course, not just a text and a few vague scenes.

Bingo. :ilv: :gngl: :hmr:

I agree I like to see praticial effects used as much as they can. And only cg what needs to be or to enhance other scenes.

This quote from Greg Weisman sums up the Mary Jane and Peter/Mary Jane relationship I want to get from this new series:
“That was our feeling. Mary Jane and Gwen Stacy, both wonderful individuals, but very different from each other. In the comics Gwen was always the booksmart, cool, blonde Daddy’s girl, who was Peter’s first love. And Mary Jane was always the fiery redhead, bit of a party girl, who was his great love. And those things have to evolve. And for Mary Jane and Peter to be right for each other they have to go through some stuff together because they don’t meet and their instantly right for each other.”

In terms of romance, I would like Peter/Gwen and Peter/MJ in the first film to resemble Steve/Sharon and Steve/Natasha from CA:TWS, respectively.

I'd like that.

I'd personally love for Weisman to be involved with the series in some capacity.

As great as it would be he likely wouldnt. Due to what ever he is doing now. And other factors. And so far what Kevin has said and having Kevin here. I don't think we have much to worry about in the characterization of the character.

Whatever you do... keep the stories uncomplicated, clear, and focused.

Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, and even the Amazing Spider-Man worked because they used one main villain and stories that were relatively focused. Avoid what made Spider-Man 3 and Amazing Spider-Man 2 suck (too many villains, no clear focused plot, and poor writing of all the characters).

THIS. This is incredibly true.

That's actually part of why I think you need to have split the Symbiote arc into at least two parts; the first with Peter wearing the suit while fighting someone like Kraven or Mysterio and ultimately separating from it and then the second with him fighting Venom. You just can't fit it all into one movie.

Nolan absolutely hates to use CG. You can bet if he were in charge half the CG in Spider-Man would be stripped out and they'd figure ways of doing the effect in camera or simply script it so there were less of a need for CG.

He would probably be screwed because Spider-Man swinging will always need a lot of CGI, he doesn't use it as much because his movies don't really need it.

I think Raimi had the right balance of practical effects and CGI and considering how much technology has advanced I would imagine is easier now to achieve that kind of balance. Heck even Michael Bay does that very well.

I'd love for that too, but to get from Peter and Gwen to Peter and MJ wouldn't that require adapting the Night Gwen Stacy Died? I can't imagine that they'd want to go down that road all over again. Especially this soon after TASM.

I suspect we'll be getting something more along the lines of the early ultimate comics in which MJ is Peter's friend from the beginning. It's simple and doesn't require much emphasis on romance or recycling storylines.

Exactly. It's much more straight-forward and there will have been a decade long break from a cinematic Mary Jane by the time SM comes out in 2017. Gwen's had her time on the silver screen for now; let's give MJ a chance to come back and get done properly this time around. :hmr:

It also makes a lot of sense to go with the Ultimate take on MJ, having her be Peter's friend already and probably have her already in the know/soon finds out about Peter being Spider-Man.

Please, for the love of God, get Greg Weisman involved with these movies!

No, I definitely want to see Marvel handle The Night Gwen Stacy Died so they can do it right!

It would great to get him involved! Or at least, get someone who understands the characters as well as he does involved.

You're probably going to have to wait quite sometime for this to ever happen. If they were to dabble about Gwen again in the MCU so soon after the ASM films, I'd wager we'd see her storyline play out more like in the Ultimate comics, if only so the MCU can maintain some distance and sense of originality over the ASM films.

I never said the death of Gwen is soon. Since we're "spending all this time in high school," you would wait until sometime in college to do Gwen's death properly.

Well for me I hope we do have all his buddies make it into this go around. Mj gwen harry flash Liza Sally Kong etc....
