What was the best film of phase 2?

I think the masses will in general find GOTG more appealing, while superhero fans, such as those on this site, will generally like TWS more. It's really just a matter of taste, as they are both great IMO.

As a big comic fan I just found GOTG more appealing. I love cosmic ?Marvel and the movie got a lot of perfect. TWS is really good, but even as a superhero fan I find Guardians the better movie. It had a lot of heart which helped.

The quality of Phase 2 has been poor enough that I am going to wait for the Netflix release to watch Ant Man, a first for me in the MCU.

1. Guardians of the Galaxy - the combination of fresh settings, a big cast of new and dynamic characters, and the right balance of great humor and action came together to make one of the most enjoyable superhero films of all time

2. Captain America: The Winter Soldier - added some much needed seriousness to the MCU, raised the stakes of the universe, and stands out as an extremely compelling thriller with great performances all around

3. The Avengers: Age of Ultron - suffered a bit from "same old same old" syndrome but still very engaging and fun. Finally seeing the Maximoff twins and Ultron in a film is the main highlight, and I happened to love all three performances, especially Elizabeth Olsen who I look forward to more from.

4. Thor: The Dark World - I love the unique settings and characters of the Thor films but this, while slightly underrated, was largely forgettable thanks to a boring villain and a plot that went all over the place.

5. Iron Man 3 - Just blah and forgettable and feels too isolated from the other films. The twist, while amusing, really made me lose interest in the action.

The Dark World. Everything worked.

You know I thought Age of Ultron was my favorite flick but now I'm not sure. I think TDW actually edges it out now. I don't care that everyone else here hates it. All of Phase 2 I think has been excellent. Even Iron Man 3 which was a great setup for AOU.

But shouldn't Phase 2 include the shows? Because other than Thor 2 and Ultron, I've enjoyed Daredevil the most.

For me, the more I hear about Ant-Man, the more intrigued by it I am. I am for sure planning to see it.

I feel the same.

I really have no expectations for that film but I'm very much looking forward to it.

The Winter Soldier is number 1 for me. Not only is it the best Marvel Studios movie to me, to me it's also the best Marvel movie in general.
