What we really need: A new Judge Dredd movie

The first one was quite... entertaining.

But they should make a completely new movie. Judge Dredd is probably the "biggest" British comic book hero so he deserves a better movie. Stay truer to the source (core) and cast an UNKNOWN actor so he can LEAVE his ****ING HELMET on!

More British comicbook characters would be fantastic. I'm all for thinking outside the Hollywood box.

Dan Dare (and the Mekon) - yes please! And there's so many characters who deserve a movie, much more than flippin Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon.

New stuff that hasn't been on screen before is much better than tired rehashes that can never capture the spirit of the original.

I think the movie could work if is was made in the U.K. for the English. They know the character and they'd know how to do him justice. Last time we tried well....we f***ed it up pretty badly. When they make it they can just offer it over here DTV. And maybe if interest gains I can get those damn trades that cost so much to import.

Simon Pegg is a big Judge Dredd and 2000AD fan. Heck, he played Stronium Dog in the British radio show. If only he and the producers of Hot Fuzz and Shaun of The Dead could push for a new Dredd film to be made. I can see the film shot in the same style as Sin City.


Jason Statham, Ray Stevenson, Vinnie Jones, Ron Perlman, and Vin Diesel are all good candidates for Dredd.

No, because the ego of a lot of actors is just too BIG. Judge Dredd doesn't show his face to the audience and I doubt that famous actors would agree with this. And I don't think the studios want to pay a lot of money for an actor you do not actually see on screen.

So sign an unknown one. Cast the famous guys for the supporting roles.
