All the effects of time travel in the Marvel 616 Universe were nullified?

Without time platforms what would the world be like?

uh, well, taking the butterfly effect into account, considering how many excursions into prehistoric times there have been, if none of those had never occured, Humans might never even have developed

Well for simplicity's sake lets assume that the first time travel device was made in a world uneffected by time travel but the first trip and all trips after it changed the world from what it was.

btw the first instance of time travel in Marvel comics was Fantastic Four #5 when Dr.Doom sent Mr. Fantastic, The Thing, and the Human Torch back in time to fetch Black Beard's treasure. Erase that trip and then all the ones that came after.

Black Beard's treasure would be unfound.

Rama Tut would never have been overthrown or would never have gone back in the first place or....never mind, this is an impossible question to answer. The Marvel Universe would not even remotely resemble what it does today.

I would think that the Marvel Universe would be a bit different. For the Avengers,Kang would have never came to the Avengers because he is a time traveler.Rachel Grey,Bishop would not have come to the X-Men.

No Cable is always a better world.

If I remember correctly Kang came into existance because the FF went back to ancient Egypt and overthrew Rama Tut. Rama Tut then became Kang. Much of what Doom has done since the very beginning has been shown to be due to the fact that he traveled into the future and saw much of what was coming, particularly the Sentinels, which is what inspired him to create his robotic science. So without time travel nearly everything concerning Doom and his interactions would not have happened.

This is the a very big brain twister. Personally I think it would make a very nice "Big Event" a few years down the road.

Say the Time Variance Authority decides to run a time audit on the 616 and removes all effects of time travel.

The only problem is a few of those who have actually travelled through time remember their former lives. But their memories are fadeing very soon they will be unable to change the world back to the way it was. That is,if they still want to.

If the effects of time travel were erased then the removal of Rama Tut and the FF from ancient Egypt would leave a power vacuum at the time that Apocalypse was growing up. There would have been nobody to challenge Apocalypse when he tried to seize power. The Marvel Earth as we know it would have never come to be since it is likely that Apocalypse would be Pharoah of Earth for the last 5000 years on all the Earths that diverged from that point. The Squadron Supremes Earth and probably all the variations in Exiles would have never come to be.

Well, supposedly the way time travel works in the MU is that each incursion creates an alternate areality. If you travel to the past, you're not really travelling to 616's past but rather to 617's (for example) past, even though you return to the 616 when you return to the present. That's what confounded me so much about Young Avenger's fight with Kang and how the landscape changed, it wasn't supposed to. I guess it would definitely affect the people that did the travelling but I don't think it would change the course of history that much. It's a good thing you said time travel and didn't contain it to tech since Rachel, at least, WOULD have still been able to travel through time. I think that time would heal itself in a way that wouldn't be as radical as a What If?. That Black Beard trasure thing, would probably be replaced with something that they could have done in the present (sunken treasure in some unexplored place or something).

Actually Kang came from the future and went back in time to ancient Egypt to become Rama Tut. Rama Tut never would have existed for the FF to go back and defeat.

Also I was under the impression that Apocalypse' life was saved early on by Kang or immortus or something. Or maybe he was sent to ancient egypt to be raised or something... i dunno. Either way i was fairly certain that apocalypse' history in some way hinged on time travel.

According to Marvel.com the Rama Tut identity came first then the Scarlet Centurion then Kang. One of his alternates then lastly became Immortus.

yeah but he started in the future before he went back to egypt to become rama tut.
The point is Rama Tut, Kang, Immortus, The Scarlet Centurion, none of them would exist.

Exactly! Pretty much none of the individuals in the Marvel Universe except Aliens and Apocalypse would exist.

It is also possible that the brilliant young man who would become Rama Tut and Kang would have never been born. As it is suspected that the Nathanial Richards traveled to the future to father Kang. Or at the very least become his ancestor.

not true. Spiderman'd still be around. So would most of the Avengers.
A lot of their adventures wouldnt have happened though.

It is also possible that everything would be better. Imagine Cable and Marvel Girl wakeing up as Scott and Jean's young children in a world that is steadily begining to accept mutants.

They know what they used to be and they know the deadly futures where they were raised but this world seems headed on a much better path.

Do they try to reclaim their old violent adult lives? Or do they learn to live as the treasured children of a happy family?

And how long will it take for kid Cable to get into the armory?:woot:

Actually, th' way time travel works is you WOULD go into 616's past, but if you change anythin' th' present you return to is no longer 616.

To answer the thread:

Marvel U as we know it would not exist - period.

FTL travel would be impossible since all variations on straightline travel in space as explained by Marvel involve time dialation.

Too many characters that have time travel in their boot up would no longer exist.

Eh,... it would be a boring place.
