That's just blatantly wrong, though. Northstar can hit the speed of light. Quicksilver's down at a few multiples of the speed of sound.

According to what? Northstar's power is that he can move at the speed of light, although he tends to limit himself to around mach 10 out of concern for such vast speeds' effects on his surroundings. I mean, I like Quicksilver and all, but artificially inflating his abilities with blatant falsehoods doesn't do either character any justice.

No I wouldn't do that .. I found comics where Magneto and others compare their speed .. I am a very facts focused person ... If anyone knows how fast Quicksilver is it's Magneto
plus I know ur not a Quicksilver fan it's ok

I am, though. I like him a lot. I've just always heard that Northstar's topmost speed is the speed of light, whereas Quicksilver's is only a few times the speed of sound, even after the Isotope E upgrade.

Thats not what I heard at all ...I don't mind if Northstar was faster but in some of my comics I found Magneto saying how much quickser quicksilver was thats why i scanned them and all.. IF it was in the comics I would never know which one of them was quicker

I was starting to think there were no Quicksilver-focussed threads around here. That would have been sad.

I love Quicksilver. I feel so bad for him in House of M and Son of M... I can't blame him for wanting to his abilities back; they were, really, the only thing Magneto ever liked about him.

His first appearence, in X-Men #4:

And back on pg one, there was a discussion on whether the unnamed, blonde speedster seen in the Wolverine movie was CGI or not, well here is a screencap from the movie that implies they cast someone for the part, though he goes unnamed, and he doesn't do anything but stand there, and I can't find reference to the actor's name (though I thought it was Tom Felton when I first saw him).

Regarding the Quicksilver/Northstar speed debate, Marvel has this to say:

Northstar can move and fly at superhuman speed. He can channel a portion of the kinetic energy of the atomic motion in his body's molecules in a single direction, accelerating his body to a velocity in direct proportion to the amount of kinetic energy he has tapped. It is theoretically possible for Northstar to reach 99% of the speed of light (186,272 miles per second in a vacuum), but his inability to breathe at such speeds and the damage his body would suffer from wind and friction prevent him. (from the official site character bio)

So while Northstar COULD reach the speed of light, it would kill him. I'm guessing he would be, on average, no faster than Quicksilver, and probably slower since Quicksilver is the one who's mutation allows him to travel at such speeds without damaging his body at all (as detailed in the first issue of Son of M).

Hmm. Wikipedia neglected to mention the part about Northstar's body not being able to withstand such speeds. Good to know.

^ that's why you shouldn't trust wiki. There are a lot of omissions, and even when you submit additions, and cite sources and everything, someone else comes along and doesn't like the addition so deletes it.

hehe, I swear, I was laughing for like 15 minutes when I read that... possibly because it was 2AM but I thought I'd share it all the same.

I like the old Quicksilver, when he was arrogant and sarcastic, better than the new Quicksilver, who is depressed and kinda creepy (in the very best way, of course), but I still love them both.

Another quote I found interesting, from the same issue (in which Sinister has been messing with their powers):

Strong Man: Hey, 'Silver, I thought anytime ya use your speed it makes you age faster. Remember? Or are ya just getting Senile?

Quicksilver: Fortunately, reading requires the most minimal of effort. I have to do SOMETHING at an accelerated rate. Otherwise I'd be ORDINARY, and would probably want to kill myself.

I think Quicksilver could use a better costume, and it seems like everything his power is brought up for debate, they'd mention DC's Flash for comparsion, and Quicksilver just isn't as fast as Flash (something I wish Marvel would do something about). Marvel can make Quicksilver better, but right now he's more of a support character.
