What would it take for you to take up arms against the government, or join or create a civil war?

Imagine the following.

The president is required to get approval from congress in order to wage a war. He can deploy troops wherever he wants but he has 72 hours to get approval before the troops must come home.

what if Bush gave his whole "I'm the decider, not congress" BS he's been giving us lately, and waged war against Iran? What if congress did not approve it, and the military listened to him anyways? What if the higher ranking military officials just did what he said anyways and ignored the law?

There wouldn't be much me or you could do about it. How would we stop him? Would we be powerless? If you try to take up arms against the government, what are the police going to do? Who do you fight? Who do you target? Whom do you kill or mame? How would we even find the people we are against?

Would you join up and start a civil war? Would you try to stop the President by any and all means necessary?

What would you? What would be your options? How would you go about it? Where would you get your weapons? And how would you seek out and find others willing to join your cause?

Keep in mind this is purely hypothetical. As long as this remains a democracy than the democratic method of acheiving political goals shall forever remain the best method. But if Bush did this, than it wouldn't be a democracy anymore.

What would you do, and what would it take for you to do it?

if we expect citizens in other countries to prevent their country from going to war with us, then don't we have to do the same? And no we woudn't have to fight on two fronts, because Iran would not target that kind of militia.

If anything Iran would probably try to smuggle weapons, data, money, and information to you.

A whole heck of a lot, I'd imagine. I don't think I was cut out for the soldiering life, I'll tell you that. My Mom always told me I was delicate.

I assume I would high tail it to Canada, make friends with those cuddly Canucks, and then smoke the sweet north of the border hash until everything was settled.

If this situation erupted, the only way I would high tail it to Canada is if I didn't feel I could be useful back here as a fighter. I dont' think I'm the soldier type either, but sometimes you just have to fight for your country.

They aren't like the french or british in the Civil War. They Iranians would hate all of us, no matter which side we were on.

I'm not saying Iran would stop the war with the U.S., they really have no say in it, if our president invades. I'm saying they wouldn't sneak over here to target a militia that is fighting the U.S. government to get the troops out of Iran. They would be busy battling U.S. forces back home for one thing, and if they did sneak over here, they wouldn't be fighting us.

wait. it depends. If they came here to commit an act of terrorism, any militia that I would be a part of, would not want them to succeed. We would try to stop that if we had the ability, so no they would not want to work with us.

It would be a muddy situation. It would be kind of like Iraq is right now. sunnis at war with shiites and the u.s. at war with both of em, with temproary alliances shifting back and forth, and temproary agreements not to shoot each other on certain days, and ocasional sharing of weapons and information. If Iran thought we would be useful in bringing down the President, they would surely give us some info and agree not to attack us on that day.

Does anybody feel nervous about having this conversation over the internet? LOL. I'm not breaking any law or anything, and the only action I plan to take against the President is voicing my disaproval the next time a poll is taken and I answer the phone.

And then voting Democrat in 2008. This is a democracy, and to sum it all up, it would take a dictatorship in order for me to take up arms against the government.

But I'd do it, if that happened. I would so do it, and I would feel proud.
