Comics What would you like to see in the Spider-Man books in 2007?

the umasking retconned AT ONCE

Sounds good! I'm sure it will happen, I just wonder how? Just as long as it's not because of Superboy Prime's punches! ;-)

I don't want it to be retconned at once necasarily, myself. I didn't like the idea of it at first, but it's grown on me. The stories that have come out of it are actually pretty good, and there are plenty more that I'd like to see be told.

True, but you know at some point it will happen. The question is, how far back will they take it?

I mean, the entire world knowing Spider-Man is Peter Parker will eventually get scrapped somehow but what about people like Aunt May or Norman Osborn? Will they or should they still know Peter's secret? That could easily make a potentially great or potentially disasterous story.

I would like to see the writers take full advantage of all the new powers Spidey has.

dare i say peter start an all search for his "dead" daughter....a nice storyline where osborn tells him that baby may is being raised in europe and peter deciding to go search europe...would make for some interesting stories over there

New Red and Blue organic "assault" costume, rivaling the tech of Iron Spider.

The costume development would need money, Parker should rise up from mediocrity as a school teacher and set up his own profitable biochem research shop.

Less "events" and more good storytelling (i.e., Sensational Spider-Man)...

Action, adventure, heroics, and a little romance (with an alive and very well Mary Jane)...

John Romita jr. back on one of the books.

More new villains in ASM, but not throw-aways. Characters that could one day take their place alongside Peter's greatest rogues.

More old villains in Sensational. Loved seeing Stegron, Molten Man, and Will o' Wisp....now let's see Tombstone, Kingpin, Silvermane, and Hobgoblin! Kingsley needs to return and re-establish himself as a major player in NYC's underworld. ASAP!

More old supporting cast in FNSM. Seeing Deb Whitman was great. Let's check in with Phillip Chang, Mrs. Muggins, etc., and see what THEY'VE been up to.

Spidey fighting underground alongside Captain America and his (inevitable) new team. Apologies to those who feel Peter shouldn't be a team player, but i've absolutely LOVED his tenure as an Avenger, and would like it to continue for a bit.

That's it.

joe q gone

What with JMS leaving next year, that would be great.

I think the good Captain hit the nail on the head with many things.

Especially Romita Jr. doing the pencils for Amazing again.

But I think what I'm truly looking forward to from Spider-Man in '07 is Jeph Loeb writing an ongoing Spidey title, hopefully Amazing when JMS leaves. But if Loeb doesn't take over Amazing I think what I'm looking forward to is who will take JMS' place. I mean...it's Amazing Spider-Man...and JMS really was on that book for a while. They are going to put a pretty big name on the book and I'm excited to see who it is.

With BKV not doing Runaways, Y the Last Man almost over...I could see him doing Amazing Spider-Man.

Ben Reilly!

Sensational with a steady artist through arcs.

Some quality?

How about quality in general. I remember there was a time where I could pick up God knows how many spidey titles because they were so good but I havn't been able to that in over 10 years because the stories are so sh-t.
What I want for 2007 is proper story telling that captures the true nature of peter parker/spider-ma and that includes getting his powers right and not undermining them, which seems to be the "in-thing" these days.

I wouldn't mind that either as long as it was a mini series and not in continuity.

1/ No more earth shattering or Marvel UNiverse will never be the same events

2/ Retcon the Other

3/ Retcon Sins Past

4/ Bring back Baby May

5/ Stop writing Norman Osborn as someone's drunk Uncle Jim

6/ Get Spidey out of the Avengers

7/ Retcon the Unmasking

8/ New Super Villains with depth and substance (In short, look at Morlun, do the complete opposite)

And in the category of "Don't want to see"

9/ Do not bring back Gwen Stacy, clone or otherwise

10/ Do not bring back Harry Osborn

In the past 10 years?

There's been a lot of awesome Spider-Man stories in a 10 year period. Yes, there have been bombs but for the most part I have no clue what you're talking about.

If you didn't like anything that's happened in the past 10 years than you probably won't like anything that's going to happen in the next 10 years. Or the next 10 years after that. Sounds to me like you should just give up on the character of Spider-Man and find another character to get into and then constantly complain about. :oldrazz:
