Comics What would you like to see in the Spider-Man books in 2007?

I'd like to see some GOOD stories that involve Sandman and Venom (separately), and eventually see the Red-&-Blues back on Spidey!

He's back in the red and blues already, in ASM and SSM.

As far as the Ultimate Universe goes, I just hope they keep doing what they're doing now in 2007.

Getting to the regular old MU, Captain Stacy said it all first...

Less "events" and more good storytelling (i.e., Sensational Spider-Man)...

Events do need a break, but let's be honest, there's still so many stories to do with CW. At least for the next two years.

Action, adventure, heroics, and a little romance (with an alive and very well Mary Jane)...

Not being a big MJ fan, I could stand to see her knocked around a bit. :yay:

(And no I'm not pro-beating on females -- to stop that comment before it gets started.)

John Romita jr. back on one of the books.

I like Ron G. now, but getting JR jr. back is hard to argue with.

More new villains in ASM, but not throw-aways. Characters that could one day take their place alongside Peter's greatest rogues.

More old villains in Sensational. Loved seeing Stegron, Molten Man, and Will o' Wisp....now let's see Tombstone, Kingpin, Silvermane, and Hobgoblin! Kingsley needs to return and re-establish himself as a major player in NYC's underworld. ASAP!

Normally I'd hate the idea of Hobgoblin coming back while Osborn is still in the picture. But with GG in the TB, this might be Hob's chance to make a comeback. And he might take over the underworld as one of the few super villains who hasn't been taken over by SHIELD yet.

And more Tombstone, Kingpin, and Silvermaine isn't a bad thing.

More old supporting cast in FNSM. Seeing Deb Whitman was great. Let's check in with Phillip Chang, Mrs. Muggins, etc., and see what THEY'VE been up to.

I remember Chang, but who's Mrs. Muggins? Was she one of Peter's landlords?

Spidey fighting underground alongside Captain America and his (inevitable) new team. Apologies to those who feel Peter shouldn't be a team player, but i've absolutely LOVED his tenure as an Avenger, and would like it to continue for a bit.

With Venom, GG, and others now with the gov., Spidey has to team with somebody for protection whether he wants to or not.

What I want to see is Spidey not being a big fan of either Iron Man OR Captain America at this point for the way they've BOTH been behaving. It'll show Spidey being more his own man with his own opinion and not one provided to him by either IM or Cap. Again making Spidey a MU hero outcast.

That's it.

Good stuff, man.

as long as the writers give mj a chance to defend herself or TRY TO defend herself:spidey:

My money's worth storywise.

I want them to be the way they used to be jam packed with fights personal developments and ongoing storylines.

Also it was sugested on another forum that instead of putting out three or four main spider-man books a month they should just make Amazing a weekly book.

I would love this.:hyper:  And would strongly suggest Bagley to draw while Peter David and Dan Slott do the writeing.

I would like some arcs where everything is not so serious. Remember the tone of the animated series? There were always bad guys but there was more time for peter and there were nice little things and encounters that we no longer see in The Amazing Spider-man. It's always some wierd ass huge thing where spidey will never be the same yet somehow by the end of the event he is the same...

Someone should start writing like stan lee...shorter arcs, more ongoing stories that don't just dissapear randomly, less life changing events and more good ol spidey, more comic relief, and most of all i would like to see more of the old villians you never see anymore and i'd like the writers to bring spidey back to his good natured fun roots...sure a dark arc is nice once and a while but man every arc now adays is dark and overly serious and sometimes dull. Oh yah and more focus on Peter Parker please:)

dont kill M.J:(

unless they do this im still going to align myself with Usm as opposed to 616 spidey.

I dont hate 616 spidey but he could be alot better...i love the first 300 or so issues of amazing though...classics.

I think every Spider-Man fan on here wants Dan Slott on a Spider-Man title...immediately. :cmad:

Preach it!!!

The fact that he's taking on that new Avengers book, "The Initiative" means that it'll be awhile before we see it happen, though. :cmad:

Not necessarily... I've heard that series is only a 6-issue mini. He could work on Spidey after that, but it's doubtful.

I'd like to see some prevention of what JMS and Joe Quesada are about to do to the Spider-Man titles (ruining them be the means).

Oh well.

Anyone else here want to see Spider-Man actually return to his status as a
"formidable opponent"? I know I would. He's lost to everyone he's fought for the past few years, despite having more power upgrades than freakin' Superman. It's ridiculous. I understand he needs to lose every once in awhile, but DAMMIT, he used to take down some tough foes...now he loses to lame-asses.

that would be me:ninja:

-Decent down to earth spidey stories... No life altering events, no more dead ex-sleeping with Osborn, and no MAGIC stuff... Magic should be taboo on Spidey...
-Also I'd like to see spidey beat up someone... right now he's punching-bag-man... his super power... get his ass kicked by everyone...
-I'd like to see more MJ... alive, not dead and/or banging venom, thus having symbiokids...
-light hearted stories... spidey's been too depressing lately...
-death to the stingers...

ben reilly as either an avenger, an outed Spider-Man, or a depowered reporter for the Daily Bugle (then we get the Daily Bugle back! yay!)

kaine as a thunderbolt

The Initiative is only going to be a miniseries. And depending on how well that sells and gets Slott's name out there, it's a possibility that he could be put on a Spidey title. JMS is leaving in the middle of 2007, so it's open, but I think Loeb will be taking JMS' place on ASM.
