The Dark Knight What would YOUR viral campaign for TDK consist of?

So we've seen a couple of fake Dent election campaign sites, a couple of fake joker sites, with 3 or 4 on the way! Of course there was also the comic con big day out...

If you were working for 42 Entertainment (AH, I get it... Meaning of life = 42), what would YOUR viral marketing campaign for THe Dark Knight be?

Yea they did that in Batman 89... It got a lot of people into the streets. Then Batman stole his balloons.

It would consist of putting stuff on sites like myspace where millions of people would be able to see it

During the Superbowl, either before a commercial break, or during the halftime, have the Joker interupt the broadcast and say something, then later run a TDK tv spot so people can make the connection. Billboards of Harvey Dent, which will then later be defaced. Joker interupting TV shows. Large gatherings of Jokers in the streets. Harvey Dent campaign TV ads. Perhaps the Joker hacking into youtube, google, or myspace. You start off small, reaching the fan boys, like they have so far, but then you build up and hit the masses as the movie draws closer. If they start like this with a year left, i think they will hit the masses around december, january, or february. The See You in December thing may end up being something huge, which would be pretty awesome.

While that sounds good, I don't think it's feasible. They'd probably spend more on marketing than the actual film budget.

Comic shops all over america covered in blood-graffiti "hahas" and the WB watertower defaced. Muwahaha.

Maybe all those hacking ideas are radical, but maybe just doing one would work. With the way myspace is, I can see them promoting TDK later next year close to release. I would love to see youtube videos, perhaps Batman video searches etc., redirected to Harvey Dent campaign videoes that are interrupted and/or put together by the Joker.

Speaking organizationally, it erks me that people post threads that don't belong in the spoiler seciton and this being the reason why most people do it...

When about to enter the spoiler forum, you can see other areas (Batman Sequel, Batman NonSpoiler, Batman Comics) and hardly anyone is ever in there to even comment on. The reason why people flood the spoiler section with non-spoiler threads is because there are over a hundred people in here compared to the four in the non spoiler section.

Another thing I'd do just to give all the fanboys goosebumps, the night before the premiere I'd light up the Bat signal in the country's 10 largest cities and London.

Taking advantage of the election season to run Harvey Dent, ads, billboards, campaign signs, etc. Hell, I'm sure most of us would be a lawn sign up. The fun part is the average citizen will buy into it because they don't pay attention to who is running for DA. And that's what will make it more fun when the billboards are defaced as someone already suggested, and the campaign ads are interupted by the Joker. California and many other states will hold their primaries in June, so they'll beginning running TV for the movie right about that time anyway.

Let me tell you something - I am a marketing director. Not only is in person grassroots marketing the most effective, it's also the most cost effective.
