I didn't like it at first but I got used to it and now I like it. The trick is finding the ones read by people that can tell the story and do voices well. The Star Wars ones are good and the one I just listened to for the Stand was good. I've heard some real crappy ones though.

If it works for you then great. I'm not gonna at all.

Besides, I'm a speed reader, anyone reading to me is automatically much slower than several magnitudes how fast I can read it myself.

I just finished "The End Specialist" or "The Postmortal" (UK and USA Titles) by Drew Magary and I absolutely LOVED it. I don't think I've ever finished a book that quickly before. I'm definitely going to recommend it to everyone I know.

Now, I'm about to start "The Harry Houdini Mysteries: The Dime Museum Murders" by Daniel Stashower. It's a thriller/mystery starring Harry Houdini! I'm really looking forward to it.

Dragons of a Fallen Sun by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. It had a few touching moments, like Tasslehoff realizing that all his old friends had "vanished" and the world he remembered was under the Nazi-like rule of the Knights of Neraka and the Dragon Overlords.

I'd say the War of Souls is looking to be as good as Dragonlance Legends, at least.

Finished reading "Stealing Light" by Gary Gibson. Good sci-fi book, next up is the second book of the trilogy.

The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Díaz

If anyone's interested I just published two ebooks and I'd love to get some hypster's thoughts on them. One's a contemporary romance and the other's a children's fantasy novel. They're cheap and you can find them at my smashwords page HERE. If you like what you read I'd be appreciative for a positive rating, comment, and helping to spread the word to help a long time hypster.

I'm self taught so if you have criticisms I'd love to hear those as well (though I'd prefer that over a PM). That's how I learn to improve.

The Cambridge Companion to Aquinas - edited by Norman Kretzmann and Eleonore Stump

The God Delusion, by Richard Dawkins.
Little, Big, by John Crowley.

Severance Package by Duane Swierczynski

It was OK. Swierczynski's fast-paced, pulpy style is good and the over-the-top violence is entertaining, but it runs out of steam toward the end, as it becomes even more unrealistic. The ending was a little unsatisfying too, though at least it wasn't trite.

A Fighter's Heart: One Man's Journey Through the World of Fighting by Sam Sheridan

Amazing book.

Harry Potter: TGOF
Harry Potter: TOOTP
Harry Potter: TDH
Eragon (on CD)

Loved that book, and his Portable Atheist, which I'm reading now.

Just finished Sam Harris's Letter to a Christian Nation.

Just finished re-reading Life of Pi. I was greatly impressed the first time I read it, and the second time is no different. Also, I'm very excited to finally see Life of Pi on its way to the silver screen.

High Fidelity by Nick Hornby

I think reading this one after About a Boy, A Long Way Down, and Slam made it harder to care about the protagonist's plight (the characters in the other books had much more serious problems). I didn't expect to think that because I love the High Fidelity movie. Nevertheless, Hornby still made great characters, an excellent voice for the narrator, and some profound moments in this book.

I loved High Fidelity. Oddly enough, I discovered and read it before going through a break up with my college gf. Really helped.

about a quarter through the girl with the dragon tattoo

Timequake by Kurt Vonnegut, not his best book but a great piece by my favorite author

Lee Child - 61 Hours - A Reacher Novel.

It was a pretty good read. As always the Reacher novels brings the action. There was one thing with the plot that niggled at me, a piece of information that they just seemed to have out of nowhere all of a sudden.
