Posted in the superhero novels thread ... and now here.

In an effort to keep this topic alive.

I picked up the Dark Knight Rises novelization by Greg Cox last night. There is a lot in the movie I want cleared up and in more detail, which is where novelizations shine. It's written in an omnipotent first person perspective which I like. Cox is a good writer so this far it's not been bad. It's also over 400 pages which I like.

It's the workweek so I can't get through the whole thing in one day. I'm up to the first batcave scene. So far there are some nice details.

-Gordon is now 56.
-Blake has been on the force for a year and only made 12 arrests.
-The scene where Alfred told Bruce to make his bed and get back at it, the scene that follows with the made bed that in the movie implied Bruce making the bed in the novel is interpreted as Alfred as Bruce not having slept.
-Bruce was working on the batcave in the intervening years, only having abandoned it in the past 3 months.
-The batcomputer is built upon 7 Cray Supercomputers that rivals the NSA in computing power

I just finished the best book I've ever read!!!!!

It's called Cicada Song by Bradford Combs and... oh okay... just kidding. I wrote it but I did just finish reading it and I was pleased to find, despite having written it myself, I could still get pulled into the story :) It's officially for sale in paperback in the link in my sig.

Currently reading my children's novel, the Adventures of Flitter & Plank trying to get it ready for paperback. Trying to finish it before my next book club meeting Friday.

Finished reading "A dance with Dragons" by George R.R. Martin. Good book and hopefully I wont have to wait four years to read the next one in the series.

Next up is "The Player of Games" by Ian M. Banks.

finished The Fault in Our Stars last night.

started Tribulation Force today. Book 2 of Left Behind Series

Hawkwood and the Kings and Century of the Soldier by Paul Kearney, The Monarchies of God series.

i hope to finish The Amber Spyglass by the end of next week!

I'm reading The Passage. It's taking me forever (not because it's bad, but because I only read a chapter per week).

i hope to finish The Amber Spyglass by the end of next week!

How are you liking it? Personally I thought the books got worse as they went along, and I found the last one nearly unreadable, but I've heard most people like the series.

im starting to agree with that sentiment. when i think of them as a whole, it's overall enjoyable i guess, but when i think of them individually as i read them, i don't feel as favorable.

first is my favorite as a whole by far. i'm about halfway through the last one now

Just finished Needful Things by Stephen King

Onto 1984 now...

Finished 1984.

As well as The Hunger Games and Catching Fire.

I am reading Eldest (2nd book to the Eragon series). I am about halfway though it.

I am also reading Harry Potter and History. Interesting book.

Charon's Claw by R.A. Salvatore. This book had so much goodness...a drow house striking out to establish its own city in the Dwarven homeland, Gauntlgrym. Artemis Entreri freeing himself from the enslavement of the titular sword and his half-demon master. Errtu plotting to return to the Prime Material Plane to kill Drizzt. Daliah being conflicted about whether or not to kill her rape baby.

Bring on The Last Threshold! :D

Just finished Relic by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child

Onward to Reliquary
