just underway in Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Am I the only one that doesn't like John Green as writer? It seems to me that he tries way too hard. It makes no sense to me that someone who writes like a high schooler is so freaking popular. He tries too hard to give his characters "special" names, he tries WAY too hard to be deep ("I MUST FIND MY GREAT PERHAPS LOLZ") and he's just annoying. I don't mind "realistic" outcomes in literature such as TFIOS, but he just executes it all so poorly. Am I uneducated or is this a normal opinion for someone who appreciates truly well written and thought out literature? I really like him as a person, and his videos on Youtube are fantastic, I just don't enjoy his writing.

i actually enjoy his books for the most part. as for TFiOS, he writes like a teenager because i'd assume its because the characters in the book(s) are teens. he did a lot of research for this book and some of the character names are nods towards those people, like Esther. (RIP)

for sure, he's an aquired taste, but i'll be darned if after reading his books that some passages have stuck with me to this day. i can't say that for a lot of books

started Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn today for our book club

From the ruins of extinction ~ Bradford Combs

I'm reading a great self published fantasy series called the Sorcerer's Ring by Morgan Rice. She has written 11 books in this series so far and they are really good.

Finished World War Z for like the third time. It's a very cool and entertaining read. I really like it.
